Elfords hands have been disasterous at times, especially after a break.

He really struggled in defence against Tonga at Ctown a couple of weeks back.

Hes a handy player but still has tyhings to work on.

Well if we were actually a chance or considering signing him, which I doubt, we could get Hodgo, Moodie and all our horde of ex-Parra players to get in his ear on what a top joint this place is. Damn right it's be great to have him.

Lyon would walk over any centre in the competition, he is solid, very strong and FAST

Seriously, we have Elford, Fitzy, Whatuira, Wilson etc - we have depth here.

We lack explosive backs, especially in the Centre position...who are potential match winners. You look at every other club, and they've all go one. Broncos have Tate and Berrigan, Dragons have Cooper and Gasnier, Bulldogs have Tonga and Lolesi, even Lee Hookey at Souths is more electric than what we've got running around. Sure we have depth, but we lack strike power in the Centre position. In saying all that, i wouldn't want Lyon at Wests either. He is a classy player, but i'm of the belief he is over-rated...he won't do much at Canberra or Manly or even Penrith. He's the sort of player who relies upon class players around him to really perform. And at Parra, especially in the last 2 seasons he did nothing to really talk about. although in 2001-02 he went well, due to the well performing team and players the Eels had.

we need to start with a forward pack and try and get a pack like the tigers had in the late 80's then build up the backs, with a good forward pack the backs we have at the moment would do alot better.

If Lyon was interested I wouldnt hesitate, depth or depth hes far better than Whatuira (Who i wouldnt even have in the side anyway ahead of elford or wilson).

If he really wants to come back to the NRL then maybe we are a SMALL chance cause why would saints want him when theyve got the best 2 centres in the game.

I seriously dont see the fuss about Elford. Yeah he's dropped the ball this season but who hasnt? he's been responsible for saving more tries than he's let in, thats for sure, he really doesnt get the credit he deserves.

Overall Elford has had a good year. He has scored more tries for us than anyone else except Hodgeson, & offers an offensive option in a backline containing few. He is a good player who will only get better. He hasn't missed a game so obviously Sheens thinks he's going OK.

I don't know that we are interested, but we should be. If Dennis Fitzgerald is fair dinkum about granting a release on the condition it is only to Penrith, St George, Canberra, or us, we have to consider it. .The other three have come out & said they can't fit him under their salary cap. I wonder if we could?

Keep in mind that Parramatta still have Lyons included in their cap & have gone a big spending spree for next year. They MUST be sailing close to the wind with their cap. Maybe they need to dump Lyon's contract in order to remain beneath the magic figure.
