This guy has not always been my cup of tea. The guy left Parramatta in unclear circumstances.
When he joined Manly, his form had not been at his best. I questioned his ability to become an NRL five-eighth.
Well, my doubts have been well and truly erased. His form at the second part of the year has been good, but he played an absolute blinder last night. He actually "looks" like a genuine five-eighth now. He has great vision, can kick and is a great ball player AND ball runner.
I had a chat with my mate who wants Lyon back at centre in 2009 while Chris Bailey moves to 5/8th. I told him that it would be crazy to move Lyon to centre. Bailey has no hope of being as effective as Lyon.
I'd still have Lockyer at 5/8th for Australia, but geez Lyon has been going better than Lockyer.

No way, Matai was awesome. But I have seen him play so much better.

Next week he will bring out the left foot step and show just how bad Folau is in D.

You're not comparing apples with apples there. Lockyer will be Australian captain, has been playing great football for a number of years. Lyon has been playing somewhere near his potential for a number of weeks - in a team going well.

Campese is more worthy of consideration than Lyon by a mile.

Lockyer and Thurston will be aussie halves no doubt
but Lyon may have just about played himself back into the Aussie team as centre or off the Bench

I thought decided not to play rep footy anymore, or was that just origin?

Either way I dont think he deserve a spot in the squad as 5/8, maybe as a centre I guess.

Yep well done to Lyon - I've been writing him off for a long time at 5/8 and he showed the goods last night. If he continues playing like this you won't have a need for Bailey...

I tedn to agree with Engine, I never thought he'd adapt to 5/8. But he's been brilliant for the last 3 months apart from the time he missed through injury, his short passes have been absolutely brilliant. Wierd but effective kicking style, looks ugly but the results are good.

I'd rather see him at 5/8 next year. With the form he's been in it would be crazy to move him. The trouble is that Bell is retiring. Des seems to like Shane Neumann, but I don't know that he is up to it.

Jamie lyon has improved a great deal this season and he was very good against the Warriors last night. However, Lockyer is still far and away the best No.6 in the game, to my mind.

That's Harsh.

It wasn't the club, the players or even the fans.

It was the coach and perhaps the administration, he couldn't tolerate any more.

say whatever you want but he was a prick the way he walked out on the club, leaving them in the lurch after 1 game of the season. he decided to act that way and therefore has to live with that stain on his career.

in saying that, he is definitely in some fine form at the moment. it reinforces the difference in NRL to ESL. they get away with far to many little deficiencies in their games over there and always struggle when they first come back. no-one has ever made an immediate good impression after being in the ESL and coming to the NRL.

In 2001 Allan Langer went to SuperLeague in England came back and carved up in the final state of origin, it doesn't get more instantaneous than that.

one game, full of emotion, only had 80 minutes to set himself for. champions can lift for one game.

name me one player who has come back from ESL and handled NRL well for a season. Tonie Carroll took a while to find his feet again, Morley took over a season to handle the pace.

How typical of fans on this board to see one game and blow it all out of proportion and hail the new king of football. Ive always liked the guy, he does his own thing and i admire that. To be honest, i dont think he gives a sh*t what any of us think.
