What's the point though? It means messing with the whole structure and game plan for one game. It doesn't make any sense, and no rational person would even contemplate it.

Then again, it's not surprising that you're the one suggesting it

Carney deserves to retain his spot, but Mullen is better than Maloney. Maloney had a good start to the year but in reality it was six weeks of good form, not enough to unseat Carney. People forget Maloney had an average year last year. The fact he got thrown right into contention ahead of the likes of Mullen, who has been outstanding for so much longer than six weeks, wasn't right.

But f**k it, he can keep playing for us :D.
This. Maloney has been very overrated this season, however has still played well.

Mullen is just unlucky that Carney has also been playing awesome this year (better than last year as well imo).

Mullen has and always will be my favourite player. He went from being great and inconsistent, to good and consistent last year, to dominating and consistent this year. Great to see

2nd trying to keep Gids at Hooker as much as possible. He does have utility value though. Just keep him out of half.
When/if Bedsy comes back Gids might be spending time on the bench. There may, however, be value in having Gids and Bedsy out there together at times. Not sure how we'd deal with that but it might be not too much different from the times someone else drops into Dummy half and Gids drops back behind the ruck or out wide a bit. We lose a position with the dummy half spot being taken over anyway.

I think it's pretty obvious how things play out when bedsy is back...Kurt to start and play most of the game, bedsy to spell him for about half an hour, both maybe on at same time with Kurt playing lock to give smith a spell

 You'll have to try harder than that.

I'm not saying that it is the best idea for the team, but I like the idea of Gidley going back to fullback for a few games. I miss watching him bringing the ball back at a million miles an hour and his defense was always impressive. The best idea for the team however would probably be to put Kev there and keep Gidley at hooker so he can keep improving.

Mullen hasn't been using his running game to full effect this season. He was our top try scorer a couple of seasons ago and I always thought his running game was his strength. When he learns to utiliize his runninh game in combination with his passing and kicking game, he'll truely become dangerous.

Keep up the great work and it's a pleasure to watch you play week in week out mate!

Not sure I agree with this after 7 years of Qlderpia victories......
I think it's more to do with being a bit excited about the Knights and them actually sitting in a handy position on the ladder more so than the actual "I don't care about Origin" mentality if that makes sense :p

The correct pairing for NSW should be

6. Mullen
7. Carney

But wont happen, NSW selectors are dicks.

You were onto this pretty early this year mate... I think I said something to the effect that "I hope you're right".

I think I can now elevate that to "I think you are right". I believe he's ready for it now... but it's for that reason that I don't want him playing. We need him at Newcastle every week we can have him. We can't beat much without him.

I reckon Mullen is ready for SOO but also reckon we are away from seeing Mullen's best.
What he is doing lately is excellent but I've seen hints of even more from him that could equate to brilliance.

One of the best individual performances I've seen from one of our players in a long time. He was really unlucky to be on the losing team but really showed how far he has come as a player. He lead from the front and he is finally starting to find his running game again, which will make him a much more dangerous player. I loved his 60 metre drop kick, but loved how he was revving up the boys just before he kicked it. I think he should be captain for the rest of the season.

It's hard to argue with, actually... but I don't think it will happen. He still has plenty of years in front of him to captain the team, and for probably the first time I actually believe he will do so.
