Jarrod Sammut

I turned the radio on last night and the first thing I heard was "Jarrod Sammut is going to the tigers"

It was on ABC Radio, during their telecast of the Titans v Roosters game.

Anyone know if this right?

If it is, surely it'd mean no McDonnell at fullback.

the answer to that is The mesiah has decided the jarrod is a prima dona this is not true he is a hard working young kid that just wants the chance to prove himself. The last few weeks he has had a hip injury but as it stands this week he will line up at fullback for Windsor our feeder club

His situation is simple.

Lewis is a better half
Graham is a better 5/8th
Coote is a better full back
Wesser is untouchable because of his experience
Tighe, Jennings, Blair etc are better players then him.

That is why he is playing lower grades.

He has some skills but is like Eddie Paea, Ben Roberts etc he makes poor decisions and is bad in defence.

i dont know about sammut. i have no doubt he really puts in and will try hard every week however i think he lacks the size and skill to be a good regular first grader. he will play some great games for you, but will also have some poor ones.

i think at the right club he would be a handy player but we already have plenty like him and dont think he would add too much to our side.

I disagree. I rate the kid highly. With the right coaching, he'll be a deadly player. I'd put him at halfback, not fullback (unless we keep Head).

He is certainly as tough as Hodgo, plays with heart. Although I think he would do us well at half. He will take the line on and he isn't afraid to run the show. In time with us he would find his feet and gel well, could be just what he needs and what we need.

He is contracted wil 2010 with Penrith but I suppose that doesn't mean much these days, there seems to be some conflict at penrith so maybe some negotiations are taking place, when thats ironed out we may have one awesome footy brained halfback seeing as Head looks to be out the door.

I think we'd be dumb to play Sammut in the halves when we have Benji and Lewis able to play there. Both are miles better halves than Sammut. I'd put Sammut at Fullback if anywhere.

He had a big game at no7 at Cambo in the first round clash against Penrith. Every time he touched the ball he looked dangerous

Most of his career he was in the halves, fullback was a position he moved into for 1st grade, he would be far more comfortable in the halves. And yes he can be very dangerous with the ball. Its an interesting idea having him come to WT. I know he was considering it last year, I'm pretty sure he mentioned he likes the tigers once. He is a Parra fan himself.... maybe why he likes us... beats us every time haha.
