Jarryd Hayne snubbed for Golden Boot

PARRAMATTA superstar Jarryd Hayne has amazingly been left off a list of nominees for the Golden Boot award just a day after he was crowned the player of the year by rugby league's governing body. Hayne beat out Australian teammates Greg Inglis and Billy Slater for the Rugby League International Federation player of the year award, yet his name was nowhere to be seen in the list of Golden Boot contenders.
Inglis and Slater were joined by Melbourne teammate Cameron Smith in the six-man shortlist, with English pair Gareth Ellis and Kevin Sinfield and New Zealand prop Fuifui Moimoi rounding out the nominees.
The Golden Boot is the long-running international player of the year award presented by Rugby League World magazine, and was first presented in 1985.
On top of Hayne's RLIF award, the Eels custodian was also named Dally M player of the year after producing a series of stunning displays to propel the Eels to an NRL grand final berth.

Reigning Golden Boot winner Slater and Smith (2007) are the only former winners in the running for the award, which was first won by former Australian captain Wally Lewis.
Five of the six nominees will take part in Saturday's Four Nations final, when Australia take on England at Elland Road, with voting to take part after the final.

it has to make you wonder what the criteria is when the current Dally M holder and RLIF International player of the year doesn't even get on the shortlist.
In saying that i think Inglis should get it

Is this award only for rep games?

If so, then Hayne would be borderline to make the shortlist.

So I wouldn't really say Snubbed.

It can't be, can it? Isn't this the one that Jamie Lyon won when he was overseas? (or was that the Man of Steel award..?)

can't we have an award for the player who gets the most awards, as there is one thing the code of rugby league is missing is more awards. If we are not careful AFL, Union and Soccer will poach all our top players by offering more awards.

lol Gareth Ellis. Good player but no where near the best in the NRL let alone the world.

Yeah I agree Parra Guru, Ellis was great for the Tigers this year no doubt, but he was not the best second-rower in the world nor should he be shortlisted for this award. I think the English are a just trying to get acknowledgement that they finally got someone to make it in the NRL.....just you wait until next year, Sam Burgess will be on the shortlist as well if he plays enough games for Souths and has a decent season....

Makes you wonder about those awards actually. One voted on by media after they have purchased it and the other by a governing body that has a history of making ridiculous decisions.

So why does an award that is owned by an English newspaper have any more credibility.
