Watching the game back again last night I realised that Jarryds game was even more incredible than I first thought. Absolutely amazing performance.

I was trying to rack my brain to see if I can think of a performance like that in an eels jersey before.

Peter Sterlings match at the Parra Stadium opening would be the best I can remember - but I reckon Jarryds wasn't too far behind that. Any one else think of any?

This was a quick summary of his match

*Takes pass from Smith and steps past 2 broncs to score.
*Fields kick on 10 metre line and steps past numerous defenders to finally be tackled 30 out from Broncos tryline.
* Takes amazing pickup around his feet from Mateo pass, is hit by 3 broncos, flick passes one handed to Grothe who scores.
* PJ passes inside to him, realises he cant take it, kicks ahead, regathers, passes to TAHOOO - try under the posts.
* Steams onto Mateo pass, passes outside to Smith - try.
* Receives tough pass from Smith, juggles, regathers off his knee, chips ahead and scores beside the post.

2 tries, 3 try assists and don't know how many line breaks. Amazing game.

Tim Smith played his best game for us imo. He was great. But Hayne, I believe, played one of the all time great matches in an eels jersey.

Apart from Sterlo, can anyone think of a better one?

he let our first two tries in with two very poor reads

he never even laid a hand on Hodges either time

After 6 other blokes missed him - maybe he should have got him eh?

Hayne also made a couple of try saving tackles, like that one right at the death.

He did make 2 very poor reads in defense to let in two broncs trys though. Hodges first try was tough though he should have never gotten through.

Other then that he was sensational

The 1st try was once again the fault of the Smith-Grothe combination, Ben came in on a decoy runner, Grothe then also came in when he was faced with a 3 on 1 due to Ben's poor read.

2nd try (Hodges 1st) Hayne missed him but so did 6 players before Hayne

3rd try - very poor read of the kick by Hayne, should've covered it.

4th try - Hayne was in there on Thorn who still managed to get the ball down but wasn't the only one at fault

Even Sterlo made a couple of errors in that match at Parra and he got a rating of 10 in RLW.

Hayne didn't play the perfect game (is there such a thing?) but he couldn't have done any more than he did.

if you watch the first try hayne was coming in cover defence (after the benric f-up) and for some reason jarryd baulked on his run at the broncos guy - if he hadn't he probably would have cleaned him up .... but I don't blame this try on jarryd in any way - its more he was a chance of getting him but got baulked

but I agree that jarryd could well have played a role in stopping the other 3 trys - the thorn one esp was quite poor from jarryd who should have easily wrapped teh ball up

BUT there's no way in hell I want to bag him out cos he was absolutely SENSATIONAL apart from those couple of things .... I gave him my 3pts - so I personally reckon he was our best!!! .... hopefully this great game from him will give him a big confidence boost

regarding the second one, he bought the dummy hook line and sinker, when he should have covered the ball carrier (Hodges), bad read

same with the third one, he was still behind the ruck rather than following the ball out to the first receiver, if Hayne was covering the ball, the gap would not have been there and he would not have kicked it

thats what a good fullback should be doing

I dont want to seem too critical because he had a very good game, but thats what fullbacks are for and maybe he spent to much time on the wing and needs to play fulbback for another season

matt spence on debut was pretty awesome (96 i think it was).

jason smith and david penna against the raiders in 2000 were pretty frekish as well.

Timmy was pretty special in the 2005 Cowboys game, it was mothers day and he tore them apart.....

Spence 1996 versus canberra we won 50-10. He went good that day but nothing compared to Haynes performance yesterday

That's a bit tough , I think it was a good read from the Broncos kicker because it was the fourth tackle and Hayne had only just been involved in the try-saver on Lacey on the other side of the field

the ruck was in front of the post not on the other side of the field and he stood there and watched the kicker

I thought he should have covered the gap,
