I am so glad Jason Clarke is going to England. He has played well over the last six weeks or so, played above himself in fact, but we saw today exactly what he is capable of. How he can immediately stop any team progress and how he can further exacerbate his error by creating another one. I have watched him piss himself, when under pressure, for ten years now and I am glad this is the last year I will have this unpleasantness.
Having said that, let me say that I don't blame him for today's loss, that needs to be shared around.
Alex (I wanna be a fullback) Johnston (can't make a tackle, can't break a tackle) Can we send him to England with Clarke. In the first quarter of this season, there were four or five games when Johnston made a few front on tackles.
This stopped about eight games ago and he has refused to make a tackle of any description since. Against the Storm he even missed two tackles when the Storm winger had slipped over, Johnston still missed his man and the cover defense arrived, fortunately. When Souths make it to the finals all the opposition need do is run at Johnston and he wets himself, he is a pea heart and totally inept, perhaps intentionally so - send him to England with Clarke, he just refuses to put his body on the line in any meaningful way and he is letting down the rest of the team. When you see a guy like Adam Reynolds stopping those Raiders forwards almost one on one and then you compare Johnston's effort (who was ably assisted by that wrecking ball Tatola), on Cotric, I think he's a Raiders winger, that sealed the game for the Raiders. I just shook my head in disgust. How does Johnston get away with this week after week, piss him off to some other club and put Inglis back there. Johnston is killing the team.
Who told Tatola he's a 'shock trooper'. Christ almighty, he comes with fifteen minutes to go, when everybody else is stuffed, makes one or two runs at half pace and that's. Bring back Mark Nichols for f**ks sake.
Gotta say Souths have unearthed some really good footballers, Cameron Murray, Campbell Graham are brilliant, but Christ there is some rubbish needs to be got rid of.
