Former Gold Coast Titans NRL player Beau Falloon has drug-supply charges thrown out of court

Updated October 07, 2015 15:51:35

Former Gold Coast Titans NRL player Beau Falloon has succeeded in his bid to have drug-supply charges thrown out of court.

The 28-year-old fronted Southport Magistrates Court on four counts of supplying dangerous drugs but they were dismissed by Chief Magistrate Chris Callaghan.

Falloon's lawyer, Chris Nyst, had previously said the case against his client was non-existent and relied on vague text messages and phone calls.

On Wednesday, the prosecutor alleged Falloon tried to procure cocaine while celebrating team-mate Greg Bird's wedding at Byron Bay at the end of last year and he had taken $950 out of an ATM on the night in question.

$950 sounds about right for good blow.

Wonder if he took his lawyer out for a night out on the stuff afterwards.

Drugs charges against State of Origin star Greg Bird and now-retired Gold Coast Titans teammate Ashley Harrison have been thrown out of court.Bird was caught up in an alleged cocaine syndicate dismantled by Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission last year, with prosecutors alleging he used coded conversations with accused kingpin John Touma to arrange a supply of cocaine for his buck's party.'At the end of the day there is a lot of speculation, there is suspicion, but there is lacking proof of Bird being involved in a conspiracy,' Magistrate Chris Callaghan told the court on Thursday, before declaring the charges against Harrison were even weaker.Outside court, a relieved Bird thanked his legal team. 'I'm very happy that finally we can put this behind us,' the former Gold Coast captain said. 'Now I can focus on my recovery and my family, and hopefully next year's season at the Titans.'AAP - See more at: http://www.skynews.com.au/news/nati...rug-charges-dropped.html#sthash.vkZl0rXj.dpuf

I don't know whether they are guilty or innocent.
The coppers f**ked up either way.
If the players were doing drugs, the police jumped the gun by not waiting until they had sufficient evidence (which I was alluding to in my last post)
Or they have charged innocent blokes for misunderstanding text messages.
Either way, what a waste of time and money for taxpayers.

Geez, who could have seen this coming..:sarcasm:

It was always an illadvised headline grab and they clearly should never have been charged.

Jason Smith, a great Raider, Dog, Eel & Cowboy. Thank God he didn't play for the Broncos like his less talented brother. Then IBM would know who he is...maybe.

After reading the meltdown thread I thought i'd come in and reminisce about IBM and noticed this gem.

Time to create a new alias mate. IBM is now officially deceased.

You found a partner for that gay pride trophy in your cabinet yet? It might be getting lonely in there
