Saw an ad for the stage show and noticed the DVD of the British stage show in JB Hifi the other day,so I bought that to see if the show would be worth going to. Being a child of the 1970's and all I have the album and the CD and love them.

The DVD is fantastic, best DVD I've bought in years. Polished, professional and even though some of the singers aren't the original singers (Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott carked it but Justin Hayward's voice is still as good as it was) they've made the effort to get people with similar voices to the original ones.

5/5, fantastic DVD and anyone who enjoyed the original should buy the DVD immediately.

I could be wrong but I think I heard that Shannon Noll is in the Aussie show?

That should put a stop to any ticket sales projections from reaching double figures.

Oh good Idol dropkicks ruining what should have been good.
The original soundtrack was excellent so I might go and buy the DVD.

I bought tickets to the Perth show a few weeks ago. The Perth show is September 8th.

For a year or so now I have been looking for the double-cd of 'War Of The Worlds'. I did see it years ago, but wasn't interested then. In recent weeks, with the stage show being advertised, I figured it'd be in stores again. I've seen remixed cds, the movie soundtrack, and some other one (I can't remember what that one was), but not the one I'm chasing.

I saw the dvd you're talking about in the shops the other day, but decided to hold off buying it until after I've seen the show.

Would any of you guys/girls be interested in this ? This is the original Orson Welles broadcast on 30-10-1938. Yes, THAT ONE. :) Its fascinating actually ... Probably History's greatest Halloween prank :) If you listen to it, with so many crosses to live "non-existant people" he really did revolutionise radio itself. Everyone copied ... everyone. And its still done today by every single radio jock. But it wasnt meant to be a prank, many times he mentioned this was a "theatre" project. But Americans freaked out ...

p.s when downloading from rapidshare, the TeliaSonera servers are undoubtedly the fastest for Australians.

The ad is actually on Sci Fi channel now. (Bloody gf getting her Stargate fix). The War of the Worlds is brilliant and it's great to read the recommendation - I've been on a budget fix for a while so I haven't been game to look at JB Hi-Fi too much so I didn't know about the DVD!

Did you ever "test out" new speakers and the like with the unscrewing of the cylinder at the start of track two? Has to be one of the eeriest sound effects on record IMO..

Thanks for that, that was cool.

Got goosebumps a few times too, truth be told. Back in the 30's, i can understand being freaked out by it.

Absolutely, freaks me out. Wife is refusing to see the stage show at the moment with me because it freaked her out too.

Although, she wants to perve on Shannon Noll's arse so that might win out.

I'm not worried about Noll being in it, Jeff Wayne has done an amazing job on this and Noll won't let him down. It's so close to the original recording its amazing. Although, Nathaniel is probably the toughest character to play having been played by Lynott on the original recording.

Watching Justin Hayward will be worth the price of admission.

Oh the cylinder opening hahaha.
In drama in year 6 (which introduced me to it) we had people crying they were so freaked by the noise of the opening of the cylinder.
I understand that there was no special effects in the recording so just wondering what could have made the scraping, unscrewing sound.
