I'm surprised by the signing. I thought Jesse would likely make way with Oates ahead of him in the pecking order. I suspect Deine Mariner will replace Herbie Farnworth at centre, so unless Oates chooses to leave the club at the end of the season, that presumably leaves Arthars as a signing.
Not that I'm necessarily complaining. Arthars has been really impressive filling in for Oates and his efforts particularly under the high ball have been very impressive. He's low maintenance, you don't have to worry about him off the field and from all reports he's a quality club men.
