Jets versus Bears

Bears always seem to lift when they play us, and this game apart from being the Frank Hyde ( Sheild/Cup Rd 1 ) is very important to both sides.

Bears have to win to stay in top 8 contention, and a win for the Jets will see them heading back towards the top 4, where they would obviously prefer to be.

I predict the Bears will give it all in this one as they usually do against us, however hope the jets get over the line and improve on for and against. Coming off the Parra game they should be in good stead for this one !!!

Pick the score guys !!!

I am going for

Jets 46
Bears 22

The bears don't have much form for their fans to get excited about however you are right 2TBs, they lift against the bluebags. Must be a 1908 thing. Anyway here goes with the predictions.

Bluebags 38 d Bears 20
Rugby League also the winner seeing these two great old teams.
Record sales of KB sold.

I noticed that Andrew Le BRETON has been dropped to the Jim Beam cup side this weekend.

We have a very strong side though.

Hey Girvie. You mentioned on NSWRL forum that the Bears are buying 3 new players. Have they, and who are they. And will they be playing against the Jets this weekend. Whats your team's line-up mate ???

Newtown's tries in the first half were top class.

Newtown were a bit lucky in the end. The Bears really bombed the match. Also the Bears should have been awarded that try at the end when they won the scrum against the feed. Why did the referee make them set that scrum again? Unfair.

Newtown vs. Norths Round 21 - 28th July
Mark it in your diary the Frank Hyde Shield will be decided on that day. It was a close game today so it could go either way.

The wet weather obviously brought the teams closer together but Newtown was dour. Norths missed many chances that could have made the difference. Not the prettiest game by any stretch but at the end of it, Newtown got 2 points. I hope the Jets didn't think the game was over before it started.

I thought the score was 22 to 14.

I only made the second half however it was the coldest and windiest day at Henson I have seen in many a day.

That wind had a COMPLETE effect on the quality of the game, and that was by far the worst I have seen the Jets play for several seasons !!!

How many times due to the wind did Jets kick the ball out on the full, giving Norths possession. The kickoff in the second half went out on the full resulting in a Norths try !!!!

Norths putting up the high bomb into a wind that sent the ball backwards rather than forwards after every set of six was wise play with the conditions, however was not a true indication of the potential score if conditions had not have been so windy.

Take the two points and run !!!!!!!

Yeah I couldn't understand why the ref pulled up the scrum late in the second half when the bears put on the big push to win it against the feed. Guess the ref's aren't allowing pushing in the scrums like when I played rugby as a kid all those years ago!
Still a good result for the boys, thought the Bears really lifted and there wasn't much between the teams. Just happy with another two points in the bag.
It was so bloody cold I had to watch the second half in the car!

Conflicting reasons given by the ref were -

1/ mis-feed in to the second row

2/Scum rotated too far around and was not set straight

90% it would have been a draw if the scrum had gone ahead. The second in the Shields' history!

That second half was the worse I have seen the Jets play all year ( and then some ). We scored 26 against Eels last week and could only manage 22 against the Bears. Hope they overcome that performance next week otherwise Sharks will smash us !!!
