Jimmy Gopperth

It's early days yet, but I've been really impressed with Gopperth's form for the 'Canes. Any odds on him being a smoky for the ABs this year? On form I'd put him as the number 2 5/8th in the NZ sides right now (after Carter and above Spencer) and with Carlos getting on a bit these days I can see the selectors looking to blood a player who's goingt obe a good prospect for the next WC.

I think they will stick with Carter and Spencer. Spencer has stated that he wants to make the next RWC and old Henry has a soft spot for him.

True about the Henry-Spencer thing, that'll probably save Spencer I guess, although in his defence he's quite capable of making it to the next WC unless injury strikes.

Carter (obviously), Spencer, Evans (who was incredible last week - I hope he isnt injured for too long because Otago look lost without him), Mehrtens & McAlister all have better chances than Gopperth
He might be a smoky for a bench spot in the AB trial game.

Was it Gopperth that thought he was playing in the Hong Kong Sevens and that he would try a Christine Cullen move behind the goal posts ? :lol: I didnt see the game but saw the highlights on the news and thought here we go a 80m length of the field try. #-o

The Hurricanes/Stormers and Highlanders/Cats games were utter crap, thank christ the nrl has started - the super 12 is putting me to sleep.

Weather didnt help with the Canes/Stormers game. Didnt see the Skirt wears/Cats game. But Gopperth is having a stunning year. I think a lot of it must have something to do with no one knowing what he is capable of ? Isnt Ben Blair having a stunning year as well he must be up there for an AB spot.

If Carlos wasn't pally with Henry he'd be struggling for a spot this year I think.

Carlos doesnt deserve a spot, Nick Evans once he comes back will put his hand up for a bench spot.
