Galuvao praying for contractual miracle

Adrian Proszenko | September 2, 2007

FORMER Kiwi forward Joe Galuvao could be spared the ignominy of playing out the remainder of his South Sydney contract in the Queensland Cup after attracting interest from Wests Tigers.
The Rabbitohs suggested devout christian Galuvao should give up football and join the ministry after he was deemed surplus to requirements.
In a further attempt to make him quit his $350,000-a-season contract, the club has sent him to play for Easts Tigers, Souths' feeder club in Brisbane. Galuvao has had discussions with Tigers coach Tim Sheens about the possibility of joining the joint-venture club on a second-tier contract, but the Rabbitohs would have to top up his contract for the move to happen. If they don't, the 2003 premiership winner is prepared to dig his heels in at Souths, despite being forced to play interstate.
Parramatta have also made informal inquiries about Galuvao's availability for next year.
"He's still got to work out what he's doing at South Sydney," Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell said. "Him coming here is a possibility, but it's all about him working out his contractual agreements with Souths."
Player manager Allan Gainey will meet with Souths officials next week about the prospect of a release.
"Souths may be prepared to pay out a portion of his contract, but we're still a long way off," he said. Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp hailed tryscoring sensation Rod Jensen after the Australian's spectacular length-of-the-field score sent the Giants on their way to a 34-22 victory over Super League play-off rivals Warrington.

Well, Well. Well.

Should be all be in the slighest bit surprised?

Coach Sheens has a recruit policy where each player must tick the boxes

* Backrower "Check"
* Average "Check"
* Undersized "Check"
* Old "Check"
* Has Playeed park football in the last 12 months "Check"
* Is unwanted by anybody bar the Doonside Diggers "Check"
* Has played for Penrith "Check"

Please give us a break SHines you F*ckwit and find another job.

I thought the final straw was losing to Souths by 30. Then I thought we had hit rock bottom when we lost to the F*ucking Noughts at home. But, this well and truly is the icing on a big Turd that the Tigers football staff has been polishing.

Who should we sign and where do we get more players?

All you guys do is bag the coach etc but have no answers.

If you have any idea the club is not flushed with cash, so what do we do?

Enlighten us!

chunk, a few questions:

1. Do you think we should sign Galavau?
2. Why should Sheens not have to answer to any criticism because we won the comp two years ago?
3. Do you think Royce is doing an acceptable job as defensive coach?
4. Do you think its acceptable we missed the eight this year?

Not waste our cap on backrowers which we have coming out of our arses for starters chunk you tool!
How bout we concentrate on signing a tall athletic winger or better yet a half!
I think Youngquest would be a good buy as for the half well our poor management seems to have missed the boat on that one!

5. Do you apply 30+ to your rectum whilst you bury your head in the sand thinking Sheens and Co are doing an even remotely acceptable job

I never said that we should sign him however the majority of his contract would be paid by Souths.

Sheens should be criticised but I think it goes overboard and quite often based on emotion and ignorance. I'm sure if we knew the full story some may be more understanding.

Our defence is terrible no doubt and Royce is probably not doing a great job.

I am bitterly dissapointed that we missed the eight but wouldn't say its unacceptable.

I beleive that the Wests Tigers don't have the funds like other clubs, thats why our recruitment seems poor.

I think Sheens does a good job considering the amount of money that is available.

Whatever anyone says we don't spend as much as others. $4.75m is the maximum you can get out of the cap with concessions.

Our club doesn't even come close.

So you may say Sheens does a good job considering this.

And? The bloke hasn't played a decent game since 2003. He is currently playing in the QLD Cup.

What's the full story?

So he should be shown the door.

If we don't have the funds then why did we sign the following:

John Morris - $220k
Keith Galloway - $230k
Ryan O'Hara - $200k
Jamaal Lolesi - $190k
Danny Galea - $180k

See above.

According to Sheens we have no room left in the cap.

Keith Galloway, Ryan O'Hara, Jamaal Lolesi were all signed mid 2005, that’s more than 2 years ago, many players have required upgraded contracts since then to keep them at the club. And there were not too many complaints about those signings back then, many thought they were good signings at the time….all well in hindsight you self instilled group of perfection….

I've watched Galovau for the bunnies and I have an unpopular opinion on him at South Sydney. I rate him. Last season he hit the hardest in defence, has great foot speed and can offload. Downside... apparently he is a lazy trainer and currently is unfit from reports. If you can get him for a few bob while we pay the excess.. take him. Although you obviously need Front Rowers first he is better than nothing. Why not move that Tank Winger to the Frontrow permanently?

JT is deluded in thinking our Premier League backrowers are better than Nulla.. obviously somehow Joe has rubbed Taylor the wrong way.

How about... "You are kidding yourself Warren! You are an absoute waste of space
(and alot of space at that) and the sooner we get rid of you, the better of our club will be!

That'll do for starters!!

Ronald's goal is to have the entire side made up of cast offs on subsidised contracts from previous employers (Galuvao, Chris Beattie, Colin Best, Sam Isemonger types) so that we are spending $1m a yr out of our own pocket. This will leave a good chunk of the cap for him to sign Junior Burger to a 10 yr/500k a season contract and to buy a Mustang yacht like the one Shines was on a week ago where shines and yoyce can hatch defensive game plans ...
