Malta takes on Portugal at the Western Weekender Stadium on October 6 and the match is set to kick off a big month of Maltese Rugby League.
Malta coach Joe Grima is hinting at unveiling his squad before the end of the week but it has been confirmed that Penrith Panthers sensation Jarrod Sammut will again line up for the Maltese in their international against Portugal.
The NRL club formally made their latest debutant available for the international as Portugal's skipper Isaac De Gois had surgery on a recurring hand injury that is expected to rule the Sharks NRL player out.
The match will be one last hurrah for Malta skipper Ben Sammut, who finally pulls down the curtain on his playing career in Australia after having played at the highest level with the Cronulla Sharks.
Sammut led Malta to a 82-0 victory against Japan earlier this year and has settled on giving rugby league his final farewell when Malta takes on the British Defence Forces in four weeks in Malta.
Ben and Jarrod Sammut are joined by North Queensland based Ross Sammut whilst head coach Grima reveals that a debutant may be called in when the squad is finalised later this week.
