What do yous think of the Roosters signing hom to play next year. THe last i heard of him he was in the minefields in Queensland probably on over 100,000 neway. Will he be a good signing? I think he will be a waste.

An astute purchase by the Roosters if it's true. Doyle was a pretty classy player, but the key will be keeping him fit.

I guess if they could keep Mullins fit, then anything is possible.

I never minded Doyle but where would he play?
Im guessing if he was going to play 1st grade it would be off the bench.

At his peak, I'd have started Doyle over Finch on any day. Finch is a passenger, and while he may look good next year, it'll be on the back of Anasta.

Im not convinced about Finch or Anasta TBH
Im watching some old Cowboys games from 2002 to remember how John played.

What the Origin game(s) he played. He was pretty damn good in one of them (the one in which Webb also debuted).

He was a Hooker, but I understand he also played a fair bit of footy in the Halves, particularly at 5/8.

Yes but he'd be a massive 5/8. I saw him on the news and he looks as big as a back rower. I hope he's got a bit of pace tho if he plays in the halves, he looks too big for it tho.

Roy Slaven will be a good signing I think.

We must have signed him from the Lithgow Shamrocks. Surprised Grassy Grannell let him go ;-)

Hmm...what we need is a good solid hooker/backrower who can run well & defend very well to start the game for us, utilizing Craig Wing as an impact hooker. Crocker should have been our run-on hooker for most of the year, with Wing off the bench, as that combination worked before. Why didn't we use him as a hooker for the last year or two? He played QLD Origin at hooker! Now that he's gone though, along with Stu Webb, and L'Estrange still very raw, a Dean Young or Ben Galea should be sought after (Kieron Cunningham from the ESL is good, but he isn't young). Is Doyle a good, solid defender & strong runner? Does he have a good kicking and passing game, along with organisational skills & efficient dummy-half service? I don't remember much of him, but we need a molar to Craig Wing's incisor.

He is bigger as he has been doing a lot of boxing training the last 12 months.
He is a five-eight who also plays well at hooker.

What about Freddy?

He wasn't exactly small and could have easily slotted into the backrow.

During his time at the Cowboys he was always one of those electric players - the kind of guy who'd appear out of seemingly nowhere and put a try on. The same vein as Preston/Bowen - but not on their level.

Far out...we already have a guy like that in Craig Wing...we need a Dean Young type of player at hooker to start the game for us....with Wing off the bench.
