From today's Herald:

PARRAMATTA Eels hooker John Morris learnt "a valuable lesson" yesterday after being fined $3000 and placed on a two-year bond for social security fraud, according to today's edition of The Newcastle Herald. "I just look forward now to being a constructive citizen," Morris was quoted as saying. Morris was overpaid $8979.57 in a youth allowance he received for almost two years while playing for Newcastle's junior and under-20 teams. Magistrate Richard Wakely described the offences as serious because they involved a significant sum of money. On the other hand, Mr Wakeley said Morris had repaid all the money and noted he was a worthwhile contributor to the community. Morris, 23, of Dangerfield Drive, Elermore Vale, admitted three counts of knowingly obtaining a youth allowance which was only part payable because he was earning income from the Knights.
