well lets just say a professional colleague has informed me of certain things. Wether it comes to light or not is irrelevant, do you now despsie a player because he has been found out. Lets say, hypothetically another is not found out but still idolised, is there any real difference?

I think there were better halfbacks than Johns

Sterling
Mortimer
Langer
Stuart

None of them were better. Put them all together and they'd be better.

Johns could do nearly everything they could do, plus more.

Langer had a better short grubber, Mortimer a better chip and chase, and possibly Ricky had a better long pass.

But that's it - he is better at every other facet of the game than the rest of them.

Mate, that a player went through his whole career like this and didn't get caught once is a massive cause for concern. I'm not taking someone's "word" on what they claim to have seen. I will only speak on facts. If there are 50 other blokes in the NRL on the sauce that are getting away with it then obviously the systems in place to test them are inadequate. I would want those 50 blokes found out and fixed up. I agree with the two strike policy as well.

so you wouldn't want them "made an example of" too? :?

so, considering Johns admitted to taking e on friday nights, wouldn't E affect his performance on gameday then?

taken from The Toowoomba Chronicle:

"There was a couple of times during the season I would take it. There was times when I was playing the biggest games of the season and it would be in the back of my mind.

"People probably ask, how do you avoid the drug tests?' Well, you play on a Friday night and don't train on a Saturday or Sunday, then generally it's out (of your system) by Monday."

it seems we agree on something, although I think after the first test a mandatory 2 year ban be in force. When you say fixed up, is that kicked out of the game or rehabilitated ?

He used drugs during the season, his doctor was aware of it, he should have been outted for 2 years as Craig Field and Wendell Sailor were, as per the ASDA rules. He had no right being on a football field.

He wasnt the greatest before this came to light and he certainly isnt now

why wasnt mitchell sargent required to spend 2 seasons on the sideline?

Why did Newcastle pick him up after the Cowboys sacked him?

Figurd he'd fit in lol?

actually i asked that rhetorically to refute your argument - because i think it depends on who catches you. sargent was caught by in-house testing at the cowboys and had his contract torn up. had he been caught by the NRL testing he would have been banned from the game for 2 years (standard punishment it would seem). joey was detected by inhouse testing - but at this stage we are led to believe the NRL was oblivious. therefore i'm unsure as to what the punishment would have been had the knights acted upon it publicly.

i could be wrong - but this makes sense.
