I don't know the full story yet but Stacey went off injured after about 10 minutes, a wrist injury i think.

Jones has broken his right arm, pretty badly according to the radio and will be out for a long while. He was described as 'distraught' and they said the whole club is 'in the dolldrums'.

Sounds pretty bad. It doesn't sound like they can win many games without him, with the match report from the game stating that Salford would have won by a lot more if they were not so rusty in attack.

what alot of crap, "we would have won be alot more if we were not rusty"

Considering the French lost their Half Back inside 10 mins and only in their second match ever, they did rather well.

i hope rinaldi can step up... could be a blessing in disguise for the french game as rinaldi will play halfback week in/week out for a while now against pro teams.

Which arm was it? Assume it was the same one that was broken previously when Joe Vagana 'jumped' on it when the Kiwis played Tonga in a friendly game.

I expect Rinaldi to move into Halfback, and Berthezene to go as hooker. It would be good if they could bench rudder, and move Frassynous to five-eigth, thus pushing Guige to his international position at fullback. Saddoui can move into wing maybe.

Don't worry, the Catalans will lift. It just woulda been good if the import that was injured was a crap one like murphy or something, cos jones is pure quality.

As robyalvaro pointed out, this could be a blessing in disguise for the French.

It was a test match when they played and they both went to tackle a Tongan player and Staceys arm got sandwhiched between Joe Vagana and the Tongan player. It was pretty bad looking too.

I think he was out for like 3 or 4 months after that.

this is a big blow if it is broken, as he would be out for depending on the break 6 to 10 weeks.
i thought competed well without him against a team that are a big improver this year, i think hudderfield, salford & catalan will all be fighting it out for the bottom play off spot.
remember catalan did not take a reserve hooker, so once he went off i would assume a forward would have to move into hooker.
there injury toll is not great so far saudoni, jones & jampy, the first two major players in side.
will win more at home so no panick stations, however they cannot afford any more injuries, if rinaldi or fakir go down they are in sh*t.

a bit of deja vu for Stace... not nice for him.
The Dragons have the potential in the halves but weren't ready for this to happens against the Reds.
Hopefully Rinaldi can step up for next week and they're back into their winning ways..

Bad break for Stacey.

I think Catalans will go okay without him. The trouble is you can't cover an injury like that to your main playmaker during the game, unless you have the right people selected on the bench, and even then your expected game plan would go to shreds.

I think they'll continue to be difficult to beat at home, and will get it together and improve for the next away trip...

The club has good enough players to compete well without Jones but the psychological loss of their best player is something they have to overcome. If they have a bad attitude and make excuses they will lose but if they realise they can win witout him they should do okay.

Apparently Rinaldi went off injured shortly after Jones, which would explain the lack of playmaking options in their 16-0 defeat.

Rinaldi's now been cleared of serious injury, but Jones has had surgery to insert a steel rod and is expected out for 6-8 weeks.
