Channel Seven NRL reporter Josh Massoud suspended after allegedly threatening young reporter
Channel Seven has suspended rugby league reporter Josh Massoud over an alleged threat he made to a young reporter who works in one of the network’s Queensland newsrooms.
A dispute is understood to have arisen over a story about Todd Carney, and his decision to quit the North Queensland Cowboys to be closer to his ill mother.
The story was embargoed to appear on the channel on Tuesday night, but it’s understood the 21-year-old reporter saw the story on an earlier news rundown and, without being aware, posted it on social media.
When Massoud saw the mistake, he phoned the reporter, who was at the station’s Brisbane newsroom, and allegedly made threats to “slit” the reporter’s throat and also “s*** down” his neck, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Channel Seven’s Sydney News Director Jason Morrison met with Massoud on Wednesday, where Seven’s HR representatives were also present.
Massoud was suspended pending an internal investigation into the matter.
