Oh this one has come back to bite. Great match winning play from McCrone. Takes balls to go for the try instead of the field goal.
You sure know your rugby league 'old' man. Givedoome credit where it's due, the kick was perfectly weighted as were the majority of his kicks in the 2nd half. There is absolutely no reason the Raiders can't play like that against every team. As soon as others took the ball away from Josh after the 5th the team came back. That last kick was blind man's luck.
All the Raiders need is to work on finding a competent 6th tackle kicker so they don't have to have 2 steps forward, one back.

His 3 or 4 kicks in the 2nd half were terrible. All the good kicks were by others and were responsible for the game being in a position for Josh to 'win' it. Turning points were the kick by Williams and 2 by Dugan, especially the shallow kickoff.
Don't get me wrong, McCrone made his presence felt. Not nearly as much as Buttris and Fensom who were the men instrumental in the turnaround. Dugan showed what he can do if the forwards do their job.
McCrone needs to take on the McLinden role I think (not just because of his name, they are actually quite similar players).
There can now officially be no doubt that Alan Tongue has been hurting us playing at hooker. I love the bloke, and I don't want him to get turfed on the scrapheap, but he's not our best hooker or lock and he can only play a bench role moving forward. Unfortunately when Campo is back, that's the same role McCrone should probably also play (ie super sub off the bench to try and dart through tiring forwards).
You can't have guns in every position, unless you're Melbourne and repeatedly cheat the cap so as to have an unfair advantage over everyone else.
That's some insightful stuff there. And all this time I thought the Canberra boys went to training to read comic books. at Popeye - supercoach :lol:All the raiders need is some inspiration. Tongue has had his day and should be moved to a managerial position if he wants one. Buttriss to start and Williams to begin perfecting his kicking, Dugan to undergo training to improve his longevity.
