Judd to Victoria?

In news that is sure to get Cammers and the Lockmeister suitably aroused, a strong rumour persists that Chris Judd will return to Victoria for the 2008 AFL season.

At the moment it is definitely still but a rumour, although the mere prospect of it is enough to ice-over my blood at the prospect of Hawthorn being unwise enough to enter into a bidding war for his services. The price would surely be too high for rubies and could tear the club asunder.

Not only is there the issue of players/draft picks to be handed over to West Coast, but there would also be the not insignificant matter of paying his exorbitant salary and causing havoc with your salary cap.

West Coast will be laughing on this one, no matter what happens.

Stay in the west oh exulted King of Jordan, for the love of a benevolent God stay in the west!

Still, for Cammers & Lockers, what would you give up to get him to your club?

I do get the sense that Judd wouldn't be the sort of player to hold the club over a barrell, but who would know for sure.

All I can see happening is that West Coast end up with a stronger side and the "successful" Victorian club end up with Judd and a suitably weaker structure.

Sounds like money really well spent.

Still, if we were really lucky, this would be the one time that Collingwood managed to snare a big name. :lol:

Of course, looking across the Collingwood list I can't see a lot that would be to West Coast's liking.

Why? In the end Hird as good as he is will give us at best 2 good yrs and Judd is better than him anyway, as much as I like hird. Lovett is a forward and we have plenty of young forwards coming through anyway. He is replaceable. Plus WC will want at least one pick and our secon round pick is reasonable. Why is it such a bad offer! I want JUDDY!

Lovett is an average peripheral forward and Hird will be retired by the end of 2007 (will most likely retire at the end of this year).

I'd give it to them then but I'd rather not use our first round pick. We desperately need some quick young mids. I may give our priority pick at the start of the second round to WC. There is no way I'd give the no1 pick to WC. Hird can be used as trade bait and I would like him to finish with a flag and he's more likely to get it at WC.

YES, considering Hirds injuries nowadays we are screwed for the next two seasons minimum. Even I will admit that! Plus don't you get a secondary priority pick this year at the start of the second round for winning less than 5 games this year! It will take us 3-4yrs minimum to get back to the top. With Lloyd we are a chance for a few games but I can't see more than 5 next year and we'll be lucky to win 3 this year! I want Hird to finish on a good note!
