Good to see that thug Kikau rubbed out as he should be. I mean it’s a shame Bateman won’t be able to absolute own him for the second time this season, but shoulder charges like that have no place in the game.

Case closed he plays next week. We have such incompetent bunch of merkins running this sport
It always amuses me when people use still shots of two different incidents to compare.

But if you wanna talk screenshots, the one on the right shows clear air between Dufty's arm and torso, so it's fairly evident why he wasn't charged.

What's amusing is he never compared the tackles or mentioned Dufty not being charged.

He clearly used that image as it shows Kikau wrapping his arm which clears him of a shoulder charge. Hence the case closed comment.

"Wrapping the arm" doesn't clear him of a shoulder charge. If the first point of contact is the shoulder to Nicholls' face (it was), whether the arm then wraps around is completely irrelevant. Hence why Kikau was charged.

And if he wasn't trying to compare Dufty's... then why did he include it? lol.

The shoulder charge rule is ridiculous. Neither Kikau nor Fifita should be suspended for what were just ordinary tackles. They need to review this rule, they should have done it last year after the Slater schemozzle.

They'll probably both just have to take their week since the price of justice is a doubling of the suspension.

Its then a high tackle charge dopey. It was in no way a shoulder charge and if you say so you know nothing about the sport

You must have seen something I haven't to be so sure. If it's high he should take the week and be grateful its not more. The TV replay is inconclusive though and in view of the wording below maybe they've hit him with the wrong charge anyway.

This is the NRL definition from their site:

As part of a change to the Judiciary and Match Review system, a player will be charged if:

• The contact is forceful, and;
• The player did not use, or attempt to use, his arms (including his hands) to tackle or otherwise take hold of the opposing player.

Whether it's contacted the head is immaterial in this wording. They have other charges for that. It's 100% clear that at least one arm has been used. Yet he has been charged. The shoulder charge is a dog's breakfast. They really need to sit down and work it out properly. My view is that there is no need for a shoulder charge rule at all. Dangerous contact covers it adequately. A shoulder to the body should not be illegal in a sport like this.

They need to f**k this contrary contact horseshit off, it’s like the charge you have when you think it looks like the other guy might get a bruise but you can’t find anything against the rules.

Then they need to learn what an actual shoulder charge is.

Annesley has now said that it's OK to shoulder charge if it's to prevent a try, but presumably only then. So what he's saying is it's not the danger of shoulder charges that are the problem, it's something else, but it is unclear what. Rule making on the run at its very best.

It wasn't worth 10 minutes let alone a week!
Look, i dont disagree.
It was barely a penalty, and definitely not worth 10 in the bin. The fact he was reported and now charged is really quite a joke.

But all being said, i think he should be suspended for a week. Just as a little warning to the rest of the league.
