Bulldogs halfback Trent Hodkinson is set to miss two weeks after he was charged with dangerous contact by the NRL's match review committee today.
The suspension would mean the halfback would miss the clash against former club the Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.
Hodkinson was penalised after dropping his shoulder into the head of Steve Michaels in the 19th minute of the Bulldogs' victory over the Titans on Friday night, after Michaels was already on the ground.
See the incident that put Hodkinson on report
Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis was charged with a careless high tackle on Gold Coast’s Scott Prince, but will be free to play if he takes the early guilty plea.
Meanwhile, Cronulla's Ben Pomeroy was charged for a dangerous throw on Melbourne’s Dane Nielson, but will be free to play if he takes the early guilty plea.
Prince deserves 3 weeks for being a serial diving merkin.
Oh, and Ryles deserves at least an 8 weeks on the sideline, but he'll get off as he is the judiciaries golden boy.
Lucky to get away with 2?Hodkinson lucky to get away with 2.
Spot the Dogs fan...
Intentionally jamming his shoulder into the head of a near-unconscious player on the ground.
It was pathetic. Almost as bad as a knee in the context.
maybe thats why he did it?Dang, was looking forward to seeing him get pumped on Saturday.
Hodkinsons smashed his shoulder in to his head on two sepetate occasions, once whilst standing and the tackled player already looked concussed but that did'nt purturb Hodko who visually lined him up for seconds. Two vicious shoulders, the second with obvious intent, should have seen Kodkinson out for a month. I've seen Sandow play the same style of defense on many occasions but never even been penalised. Lets hope the new commission will take this behaviour out of the game, the NRL could'nt care less, and the refs just pretend they do'nt see these things happening, it make the game look disreptuable.Hodkinsons act was bloody stupid....was a top tackle though. Dont see why he went on with it.
