Yes I’m a dragons supporter. Our team has been the worst treated under this new age regime of rules introduced in the tragic round.
It is total spin that the ‘new age’ continues with no change to it. BTW Phil Gould is now calling it the ‘new rugby league’ after It appeared he was tight with Peter V and supporting the severe crackdown. He appears to be changing his tune after Radley’s ‘ monster’ suspension. Apparently the NRL don’t want Radley in the ‘new Rugby League’.
After the magic round with the send offs the judiciary hit us hard in particular. Fuimanono was sent off and hit with a ‘reckless grade 1 ‘ for his high tackle on Papenhuyzen. ‘Reckless’ is a very unusual description and apparently seldom used. Fui had frantically scrambled to shut down a quick Storm backline overlap soon after we were reduced to 12 for a mild high glance 10 in sin bin McGuire tackle. Unfortunately Fui arrived to tackle Paps a faction late and unintentionally caught Paps head in the tangle. Paps was certainly bowing lower after the pass. Fui seemed to become the pin up crim of the new age after Peter V highlighted the sight of ‘elite’ player Papenhuyzen on a stretcher.Did this influence Fui’s unusual grading? McGuire then fell back on JAC legs and copped a grade 3 and Simms a grade 1 as it went bonkers bananas. Some how the Felise K shot on Normal escaped any judicial attention.
Last week Sharks chap belted Cody out of match with reckless high shot and Burns left for HIA blood pouring out of nose after a jolting high hit into the face by Duges. Note the Judiciary softened this all now to Grade 2 fluffy slap under the new age.
Who started all this? Wasn’t it Robbo with his post dragon match appeal for greater punishment of players after Teddy caught high by Jordan P? Teddy also doing a little ‘ slip sliding away ‘ in Jordan’s high tackle. I thought at the time ‘be careful what you wish for mate’ . Now second game into new rugby league and he has two high profile rooster players suspended including Victor R 5 weeks like Fui.
Hasn’t this whole saga turned off many rugby league fans as they are told from on high this is new rugby league like it or not?
My thoughts also rasaint , they were certainly the cause of the crackdown in the first instance , due to their big song and dance about “ attacks to the heads “ .
Of course it now comes to light they their players were instructed to do likewise for many a season now .
At the end of the day , they have been caught out for being one of the worst perpetrators of attacks to the heads of opponents .
So I can only echo those infamous words of a distinguished radio host “ Shame ! Shame ! Shame ! upon you Sydney Roosters , for bringing the game of rugby league in to disrepute !
Being a fair minded sort of a person and if I was running the NRL , I would not hesitate in fining the club a sum of no less than $500k for their sanctimonious behavior .
