Remember in round 1 when Gallen got suspended for 2 weeks on some charge. (he threw about 5 punches and couldnt land one).
Well in last nights Melbourne-Cowboy game Kevin Campion and David Kidwell had a bit of a blew.
I heard Smith and Daley (in todays pre-game) brush it and say there would be no further action taken.
Looked worse than Gallen's effort IMO.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

Macallum is a joke if nothing is done about this.

I honestly thought Jim Hall was bad.

Alex Chan - Storm - High Tackle - Careless Grade 3
Michael Howell - Dragons - Striking - Grade 1
Mark Leafa - Rabbitohs - Striking - Grade 2
Adam Mogg - Raiders - Dangerous Throw - Grade 1

No fighting charges.

The words "JOKE", "DISGRACEFUL" and "BIASED" come to mind.

This is getting to be beyond a joke again. How can we make this an issue for the NRL?

Gallen's got pinged for starting a fight and got 2 weeks.
He did cop an elbow (accident) which made him go off.
Surely one of these blokes at least should have went.
Fighting must be back on the free go list again.

Howell will probably miss one match.
So I doubt we'll see him this weekend at Shark Park.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bryan Fletcher only getting one week a couple of weeks ago for dropping on some player's head with his elbow.

This was a week after the Bird incident and we heard cries of "it didn't really hurt him" and "it's not in Fletch's nature".
Surely dropping on a players head with your elbow, while the guy is lying on his back is every bit as dangerous as kneeing someone in the head?

Correct.

Although I'm sure not many of us have any interest in Souths games, so no-one would have bothered watching it on Fox Sports.

On the other hand, the Dragons game was on Channel 9, on ANZAC Day arvo, and we play them next week. Hence the interest in this case.

But you are right. Fletcher's elbow was a low act, and should have been punished by more than 1 weeks holiday.

This is the charge that pisses me off. Howell used a lifting knee to a player being held by another defender, exactly the same as Bird. Birdy gets 10 weeks and the protected species player gets 1 week, now thats BIASED AND DISGRACEFUL!!!!!!!!

Why is it always us ? Im serious . Ive only ever really been interested in this since Super leauge but we have been on the end of some very biased stuff . We always seem to get longer suspentions or have the harder end of the interpretation. Is it just that we dont buy these Refs a car at the end of the year or a holiday to Figi ? Or mayme employ them at the end of their carear as an advisor. We live in the age of the statistic , surly we could take notes and make a study of this ofer a season or two then take the findings to the NRL and make it public . Cronnulla Sutherland have had two shots at a grand final . The first one we lost to a better side . The second was taken from us by a blatant so called "mistake" by Referee Hartley. Gallen's suspention just compeated is just one more bad interpretation. One more biased call. One more reason we will win the Grand final eventually.

Mmm actually Gallen's suspension was only 1 or 2 weeks wasnt it? Which, having seen the footage, is probably fair enough. Isnt the reason he came back just recently because he had a dislocated left elbow?

Yeah, he was out injured. Suspension was only a week I think.

But the point is, he got charged by the judiciary, whereas other blokes that throw punches get nothing. I've got no dramas with any charges that are layed against anyone, as long as its the same for everyone. Which clearly it isn't.

Gallen got a week but with carry overs and the fact he challenged it the suspension was 2 weeks. (we knew he was looking at 4 weeks out injured)
The point is exactly what Richo says.
Last year Tallis hammered a Penrith player. No suspension.
This year Gallen's fighting effort was soft as. He gets suspended.
Kidwell and Campion's blew was soft (but I thought at least as bad as Gallen's probably worse).
Result Nothing.
