coming through the junior system, playing a few 1st grade games for Parramatta and then being poached compared to coming through the junior system and being poached as you are on the verge of first grade selection makes very little difference.

either way Parramatta have received very little value in bringing these players to the club and investing in their development.

Should make 2 lists. Players we have lost in the last 4 years compared to the players we have gained.

Does not look great, but not many clubs have purchased more than they have lost - save for the rorters like Manly and the Roosters I guess.

Don't forget the players we have developed....

No offence guys but I'm sick of going through this sh*t every time we go through a rough patch...not only is it depressing it doesn't change anything.

I could count on one hand players I probably would have wanted to keep.

We are best off looking to the future, as bleak as it may seem at the moment.

The issue for me is A) the weight of losses as compared to gains, and B) the fact that only 3 (or maybe even two) of those gains will be around next year. And yes, we have developed a few players....but you still need new blood if you're losing that level of manpower

And Belly...it's not so much "we should have kept this guy or that", it's more the indictment of our recruitment and retention as a whole...

Great side that. :sarcasm: From the the rest I could find maybe 3 players who would make our side today. So basically we got it right and based on the small number of outside signings we make, we utilize our junior base quite well.

Realistically looking at those lists we don't have a lot to be upset about.

I mean honestly maybe 6 players we could do with who have left:
Lyon
Marsh
Tahu
Morrison
McKinnon
Tim Smith.

And of those 6, 4 of them of them we signed in the last 4 years anyway. We have lost quanitity but rarely quality, most of those guys on the list we lost are guys who have been massively criticized while they were at the club.

And realistically we have basically have not lost a junior who hadn't played first grade and went on to big things. So that would make you think the judgement has not been too bad.

The good players we have lost have been because of too much talent in front of them at the time and the judgement at the time was a sound one. Take Tonga, he left because we had 2 international centres who were going great in front of him. It would have been a big call at the time to boot out Vaealiki or Lyon, in hindsight that backfired on us.
Jason Cayless had two international front rowers in front of him Caylo and Vella, same thing hindsight.

But at the time it was pretty rational decision. Yes its annoying to lose players, but you can't sign them all, and history shows in terms of losing players we have done better than most.
I mean Brisbane have lost Petero, Thorn, Hannant, Tate in the last 12 months and now Kemp has gone to warriors.

Actually if you read the title of the thread you will find it only asks about juniors who have moved on. Not those that we lost out on.

Colonel, can you please explain why a moderator merged this thread and the thread titled "Players Lost in the last years".

The purpose of this thread was JUNIORS who we let go but never made it and was timely in relation to the loss of Williams. It was not about the inadequacies of our hiring policy which this thread has now become.

Not happy my thread was hijacked by a moderator!!

your text isn't deleted, there is a bug with quoted posts as a result of last nights upgrade

similar threads are generally merged and the title is assigned to the earliest thread
