Just a Quick one on Dykes.

yeah the Dykes crabbing thing seems to have been pretty well understood in this thread. A lot of people thought I ripped into him at the Tigers game because of his performance the week before against Saints, but I let him know that that was not the case.

The only person running off him that night was Hopkins out to the left, but Hopkins ran straight or on angles that were towards the sideline, not back inwards againstt he movement of Dykes that could have caught the defensive off guard.

Some of the best halfbacks crab across the field ie Gower, Kimmorley, yet the thing is they have good hole runners angling around them to take advantage of the fact that their halfback is making the defense move laterally. Give Dykes some runners like Widders on his good days or Cayless out wide and there will be some damage caused - no doubt about that.

You, I and the other postsers know this HJ....why is it that it is not obvious to the team....mystifies me.

You would think that you might be a 50% chance to cross the line.

Those raids on their line early in the first half I was screaming at the tele to "hit it at pace" but nup...nothing except for Vellas try. I'll leave Hindys out as it was pure strength and ability that got him over the line.

I've been saying the same about Dykes' crabbing style for quite a while. He crabs because he's looking for people to hit holes. The poor guy gets posted by his teammates all the time. He's a smart player, but nobody else in the team seems to have a football brain like he does. If they did, we'd be making plenty of busts off his crabbing.

For all his critics he leads us in just about every important attacking stat.

Try assists: 12
Tries: 7
Linebreaks:8

I think we will look more dangerous with Dykes in the side next year. With people like Widders and hindmarsh hitting holes out wide it will be hard for any center or winger in the comp to stop :)

I think this only increases the need for us to sign Morrison and Monaghan. Morrison can take some of Hindy's workload, both can run wide of the ruck at pace and take a alot of stopping and Monaghan is as good as anyone at hitting a hole. Most people, including the experts, forget that good hole-running is as important as having someone who can put players through a gap. These are not mutually-exclusive and guys like Burt, Langi and Graham need to step-up in this dept otherwise their spots are going to be filled pretty quick.

We have a flat attacking style.

It has to change. Notice too our forwards never run the ball up at pace and hit the ball flat. Even run the ball of a first reciever. One guy who does do that is Jim Curtis (Premier League) and he gets them a lot of meters. Our first graders are just easy targets. If our forwards are tired then some of our backs could hit the ball up off the half back nice and flat at the fringes.

Ive seen Jim Curtis he runs like a Martin Lang, except he doesnt get knocked around. Full speed ahead, and gains a lot of metres.

We should develop him.

We have but still hasn't got a shot at first grade yet. He and Josh Cordoba have been in good form most of the year and warrant a call up.

8. Josh Cordoba / Jim Curtis
9. Morris
10. Vella
11. Hindy
12. Stapleton
13. Wagon / Widders

14. Curtis / Cordoba
15. Kaufusi
16. Widders / Afamasaga

Until yesterday hegarty told everyone that he is not being releaes to go to Souths and today they signed him. Dykes may be next. Never believe in that I'm happy here crap. Thats what Hegarty said in Big League re: Roosters .

I think if Curtis found himself playing NRL, he'd find himself being knocked around far more commonly.

We need to sign Morrison to run off Dykes? Like, none of our 6 trillion backrowers (including Hindy) are able to do so?

WHERE IS THE BLOODY COACH??????
