just when the team was starting to look good...

The merkin goes and changes it to the same team that was embarrassed against Penrith and Manly. Galea at lock was working brilliant. I see no coincidence that our defence is fixed up as soon as he starts. Now we are back to our wet blanket bench with no props. F*ck you Tim Sheens...just when i was starting to believe

Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens has named his team to play the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, May 3, at 3pm in round eight of the Telstra Premiership.

Second-rower Chris Heighington has been named in the team after missing last week’s win over Newcastle with an ankle injury. Prop Bryce Gibbs returns to the starting line-up with Todd Payten moving back to lock. Danny Galea moves from lock back to the interchange bench.

Shannon Gallant has been named on the interchange bench for his first game in the NRL for 2009.

Wests Tigers
1. Tim Moltzen
2. Taniela Tuiaki
3. Dean Collis
4. Chris Lawrence
5. Beau Ryan
6. John Morris
7. Benji Marshall
8. Bryce Gibbs
9. Robbie Farah ©
10. Keith Galloway
11. Gareth Ellis
12. Chris Heighington
13. Todd Payten

Interchange:
14. Shannon Gallant
15. Dene Halatau
16. Danny Galea
17. Corey Payne

Probably the first time this year I would of been happy to see the same side announced and Sheens brings in the changes.

I thought Galea was very impressive starting at lock and thought that he would have that position at least for a while.

mate in galeas last year at penrith he was the nrl's leading one on one tackler. the bloke is sensational defender, easily the best in our team and one of best in the comp. why he was dropped is anyones guess, imo he contributed greatly to our last two wins.

ive disagreed with a lot of super coachs decisions before, however can usually see what he is trying to do (although usually disagreed with it). this time i seriously have no idea why he has done this. we win two games against top opposition and our defence finally looks sound. so he goes and changes the team to the same one that only a month ago was towelled by the panthers and sea eagles. im absolutely lost as to why he would do this...

I agree Galea should stay at #13. The bloke can tackle.

Mixed feelings on Gibbs getting a starting spot back. Even though he gave away 2 stupid penalties against the Knights he played really well and seemed to finally have a dig. I think a few of the "tap on the shoulder" potential players are starting to put in the effort so as to get a contract for 2010.

Daine Laurie only played about 10 minutes so I can understand dropping him. Sort of. Although a Laurie vs Idris match up would have been cool.

Rhys Hanbury? Did he even get on the field? I guess it doesn't matter who you put on the bench if you don't plan to use them except in case of an injury.

Well, Teflon's back at it- tinkering and f'ing about with the squad.

Positive- Gallant is getting a run (potentially).

Negative- Gibbs has not done anything to merit putting him back at prop- IMHO- either remains in back-row or back to interchange bench. Galea does not deserve dropping to interchange. Laurie- what has he done to be in the bad books?

Well, the Bulldogs will test us- the first of the top 4 clubs WT will face this season.

and.......... if we do get whacked Teflon will escape any censure becasue of 2 wins over lesser clubs. At least Teflon and his tinkering with the squad is a consistency even if the players performance on the field isn't.

I'm a bit impartial also to having Payten at lock. Sure he's got good ball skills and moves well laterally, but straight up and down he's slow and his defence isn't as good as Galea's.

Toddy should swap with Gibbs. Gibbs doesn't deserve a starting spot.

I must say though, surprised that Gallant got a call up before McDonnell, irrespective of McDonnell's health.

Gibbs has been way better off the bench, and it gives us a fresh prop after 20 minutes. Now we will get Payne and Galea as props again, FMD.

Gibbs started last week. Personally I'm a big critic of his, but the past few weeks he's played very well (whether it be his form improving, or the fact that Galloway is making the first big run and getting us going forwards), so I can live with him starting. I'd swap Galea and Payten, as well as putting Laurie in for Halatau. I'd say Gallant is on stand by for Moltzen, and if he plays someone will come in (hopefully Laurie).

your right about gallant being on standby for moltzen although dont be too sure about someone else coming in if moltzen is fit. gallant will still be there on the bench come sunday. mr sheens will make sure of having a tiny guy ont he bench

Could be wrong but expect both Moltzen and Rhino to withdraw from the squad sometime before 1500 on sunday. Gallant to 1 and Laurie back to the bench and maybe another forward to the bench.

The way i see it big games--big smoke screens. Although nothing would suprise with Teflon in charge, I might be way off the money and what we see is what runs out on sunday and if that the case he needs to do his KPI'S again.

Gallant was f**king awesome on the weekend, had a fantastic game. His defence was first class, one tackle was as good as I've ever seen, and the ball he put on for a try was all class. He is also a very big talker/organiser in defence.

If he's there to cover for Moltzen, so be it, but he deserved the call up on form.

In my humble outsiders opinion, that team would look much better with -

1. Gallant
6. Moltzen
14. or perhaps even 18. Morris

I reckon Tim Moltzen is developing into a great footballer and think that he should be 5/8 ahead of John (only way is down from here) Morris.

Probably been said before on this forum but thats how I see it.

I think there's a few agree with that DKOR, myself included. I would have Morris on the bench though, can cover most positions on the field..

Think he's buying his time until the next season ending injury? As in giving Morris as much game time in the halves as he can, so he can move him back to halfback when Benji pops another ligament...

I really rate Tim Moltzen and think he will be something special later down the track. He is going well at Fullback for you guys but think he would be much better value at 5/8. Morris is a genuine utility and while he is adequate in quite a few positions, he is a master of none imo. The best spot I've seen him play is Hooker, but Farah plays for 80 and sh*ts all over Morris anyway so Sheens should stick him on the bench and rotate him in maybe as an attacking lock or extra half later in games or perhaps just pick a bench full of forwards and leave Morris out altogether. While he is a solid footballer, I certainly don't think the Tigers would miss him, but then again, with Benji in the side, its probably always a safe option to have someone who can slot into the halves on the bench somewhere.

I don't think Galea coming off the bench is such a big deal. He'll probably end up playing the some number of minutes anyway. His effort the last couple of weeks has added steel & stability to our defence. Coming off the bench should see him on the field during the often crucial 10mins before & after half time, when most teams seem to be vulnerable to defensive lapses.

I like Payten at lock as it allows him to be a ball-player a bit wider than he normally would be, playing as a prop.
