We need KK as a prop; our marquee prop. We currently have lots of edge forwards suitable for first-grade.
The thing is that KK comes in 18 months or more. What the balance of the team needs will be decided by those in charge for the balance of the time next off season. For now we have him signed... we do the right thing and let Souths know we are in a situation to take him early if that works for them... its totally in their control if they release him.
For now if we look a lil thin up front we can all say (arhhh next year) - but lets hope we get to the end of this year and wonder where we will fit him. (tell him he is dreaming...)

Let’s go !!!!

im pumped to hear that Ennis impressed with LKT and how straight he can take on the line (as we have seen glimpses of with that late short pass)

maybe we are slightly underestimating what we have right now in

Atko
Kyle
LKT
Oneil
Reed

fingers crossed hey
Lol @ Anasta biting his tongue when Ennis saying how S Flanno trusts his halves and gives them time to work.

Yeah I noticed that as well. Was so awkward and even when Mick realised he'd waded into choppy waters he kept on going. To be fair Anasta did well to keep his mouth shut and give Ennis his say. I also thought Cooper Cronk spoke well about the Kaloamatangi signing and the reasons we needed him.

LKTs defence is some of the weakest ive seen in first grade. Sloan failed to fix his up, im giving this guy a little more time mind you im not sure he gets picked immediately.

LKT though was playing SG Ball 2yrs ago in 2024 (next to Kade Reed), thats how young he is.. tbf though he did play a couple of games in NSW Cup in 2023.. he has been fast-tracked..... its just that guys like Ethan Strange and Sam Walker make it look like its normal for a 20yr old to handle NRL.

i.e. he's not expected to be able to defend NRL athletes yet.. that takes time.

I havent ruled LKT out as a future 6, but im not as high on him as many, I loved the way he ran at the line in U19's with more space to get his speed up, but im not sure he has the acceleration to really be a gun NRL player.. the sort we would invest years of blooding into over an Atkinson or Reed or whoever else (like we did with Amones 54 games). again maybe he becomes the man.. but its not a locked in plan imo...

Ah Kee who is damn well injured for this upcoming season makes LKT look like a toadstool.. he is so much faster to accelerate and unpredictable with his kicking/passing options... he also leads the team around in attack (as Kade does)... but hes still many years away.. so hes irrelevant to LKTs progression, I just point it out as comparison at that age.

There were comments (unsure if true) that LKT was playing needled up with a bad shoulder towards the back end of year. In terms of missed tackles, his avg was per most halves (Cleary and Hynes having much better avg). I agree some of his 1 on 1s were bad and hoping another year of contact and better positioning will have him on the improve.

Most of the misses led directly to tries which made the whole thing more painful.

He's got the goods otherwise.

I'm a LKT fan, I think his passing game and short kicking game when attacking the opposition line is really impressive. Has a bit of confidence about himself to run as well, and seems to have good balance as he can spin through contact and stay on his feet. I agree with Rev in that he does lack a bit of a burst of speed off the mark, and that definitely could hold him back. He probably needs to work further on explosive leg power, which can be done. His combo with Egan worked really well in cup, and then we saw a few glimpses of that combo translating to first grade before Egan's injury. Could be a dangerous pairing going forward.

Before the back end of last year, I really didn't think his defence was absolutely dreadful. The shoulder could definitely have had a lot to do with it. No doubt he needs to improve in that area though, and hopefully he's done a lot of work in the gym to bring his strength and confidence in defence up to speed.

I think it was just the Cowboys game, their 1, 7 & 9 killed him.
Maybe one other game he had a shocker but rest of the season he was no worse then then anyone else in defence.

It's not the misses but defensive positioning and decision making. I'm not fussed if halves have average tackle technique but their defensive positioning & decision making has to be spot on imo. Then you rely on your 2ndrower to help complete the tackle.
