We're at that stage where Cronulla were recently where no-one wanted to go there except for some random player chasing the big buck or the players unwanted by other clubs for misdemeanours.
We need a NRL scandal involving a good player who no-one will touch then we just may able to recruit someone credible.

Hopefully this scandal involves Billy Slater, Cam Smith and Cooper Cronk.

thats the real killer every time this year when we had a dig and won (manly) or almost won (tigers) you would think we would build on that and improve the next week but single every time we have gone backwards
im hoping we can build on last nights performance but i wouldnt put any money on it
And that my friend, is simply down to the most basics of professional coaching :(.

Or did our defence make them look ordinary?

Denial, denial, denial.

Your continuing support to whomever the current coach may be is a credit to you sir. But surely you must be getting to the point at which most of us have already arrived? SK is not up to the job. Hiring a rookie to "cleanout the deadwood" and "change our culture" was never going to work. The longer this goes on, the longer it is going to take us to recover. What good player in their right mind would want to come here at the moment???

Saints have been in poor form for the last month & we choked again (so much for a change in culture). Unlike us, they will take this ugly win, grow from it and go on to more than likely make the 8. Next week, we'll get lapped....again.

It is funny how Hagan was criticized for setting us back 3 years but this coach says he has a plan and everyone drops to their knees waiting for him to flop his c*ck out for their turn..........meanwhile no one has signed for next year and his biggest supporter (PouPou) is already saying we have too many fringe first graders........how f***ed are we next year then??

Worse for us is that we will be playing a Todd Carney who will want a big performance right before Origin, due to his quiet game last Wednesday.......

I put it to you that nobody would be 'up to the job' of changing our club in such a short timeframe.

Hiring a rookie to "cleanout the deadwood" and "change our culture" was never going to work.

Mate it's working. We played smart, grinding football for seventy minutes last night, and it's only when PARRABALL!!! crept into our game in the last ten minutes that it was evident the job still isn't done.

It would be nice if we could just drop blokes en masse but most of the blokes in Wenty are Parraballers too. I'd say the staff are reluctant to bring under 20s players into this first grade team out of worry that they might catch the Parraball disease too.

The longer this goes on, the longer it is going to take us to recover.

Not true at all. The club is being rebuilt from the juniors up. As shit as the NRL side is going, the dirty work is being done - crowd favourites have either been moved on (Grothe, Tahu, Mortimer) or will be at the end of the year (Hindmarsh, Moimoi, Burt, Shackleton). So the board can let Kearney get rid of the blokes who are either past it or have bad attitudes, and then make him the scapegoat if they want. It's still to the club's benefit.

What needed to be done is still getting done, and a new coach can come in and start fresh. With a lot of room to move under the salary cap, and the right players still under contract.

What good player in their right mind would want to come here at the moment???

Ones that like money???

Nothing stopped the Canterbury Four from coming and changing our attitude in the mid 90s.

Saints have been in poor form for the last month & we choked again (so much for a change in culture). Unlike us, they will take this ugly win, grow from it and go on to more than likely make the 8. Next week, we'll get lapped....again.

We'll see.

While I still think that Kearney has been a disaster and that he must be moved on, last night's defeat cannot be attributed to the coach. It was simply a tough game that we were unlucky to lose. We did seem lost in attack in the second half, and we've developed the dreadful habit of standing shallow and still in attack, but the defensive effort was magnificent.

In particular, Ryan Morgan's defence was excellent. He did make mistakes in attack. Thats true. But a lot of people haven't noticed that he has become a strong defender.

This is a good team and with a real coach they'd be going places.

Unfortunately, when you're struggling, as we are, losses like the one last night can be a real nightmare. I hope that the team can turn up next week with the same attitude in defence and a better attack. That would be a real test of Kearney's coaching ability.

And PouPou - you are way too invested in Kearney. Get over it. You're too busy pointing out that other people are on the anti-Kearney bandwagon to see that you're just on a different bandwagon.

It's called support. Maybe you've heard of it?

Get over it.

He's still the coach. How about you get over it?

You're too busy pointing out that other people are on the anti-Kearney bandwagon to see that you're just on a different bandwagon.

No bandwagon here mate - I support him just like I supported Anderson, Hagan, Taylor and Smith.

As soon as we get a new coach I will support him too. And if Kearney goes on to have success at another club (like ex-Eels coaches never do) then I will be happy for him.

And if he doesn't then I will laugh, just like I laugh at all the previous ex-Eels coaches. f**king losers.

But that's a story for a different day.

It is a very weird and unhealthy type of 'suppport'. On the one hand, you're almost obsessed with spruiking the guy. You say that this is the same type of 'support' that you give to past Eels coaches. On the other hand, you 'laugh' at all the previous ex-Eels coaches.

Surely, there is a term for this - but I'm not a psychiatrist. Still, you'd be a fascinating case study for somebody.

You're not a psychiatrist but you know what is and isn't healthy? You sound like everyone else around here - criticising things you know nothing about.

That's a pet hate of mine, in case you're taking notes.

Well, backing 'winners' and 'losers' you have no control over is a pretty emotional business.

Marketers call it 'tribalism' but I'm sure you'll agree there's a big difference between supporting a tribe you actually belong to (e.g. ethnonationalism) and supporting a tribe you only think you belong to (non-athletic deadshit sports fan supporting millionaire professional athletes). ;-)

Surely, there is a term for this - but I'm not a psychiatrist.

I'm sure that won't stop you implying you know or even just having a guess. It hasn't stopped you before.

Still, you'd be a fascinating case study for somebody.

Mate I work in an industry where all the jobs require a report from a psychologist. I know my flaws well, but I'm fairly confident I'm sane.

Thanks for your 'concern' but. For what it's worth I don't think your file would fascinate anyone: above average intelligence combined with inferiority complex = desire to appear to know others better than they know themselves.

Of course, you're not a psychiatrist, but you know that already.

I just saw the post match conference and the bullshit smiles coming from our coach. It's enough to make you throw up your lunch. Without doubt the worst thing to ever happen to us.
