Denial, denial, denial.
Your continuing support to whomever the current coach may be is a credit to you sir. But surely you must be getting to the point at which most of us have already arrived? SK is not up to the job.
I put it to you that nobody would be 'up to the job' of changing our club in such a short timeframe.
Hiring a rookie to "cleanout the deadwood" and "change our culture" was never going to work.
Mate it's working. We played smart, grinding football for seventy minutes last night, and it's only when PARRABALL!!! crept into our game in the last ten minutes that it was evident the job still isn't done.
It would be nice if we could just drop blokes en masse but most of the blokes in Wenty are Parraballers too. I'd say the staff are reluctant to bring under 20s players into this first grade team out of worry that they might catch the Parraball disease too.
The longer this goes on, the longer it is going to take us to recover.
Not true at all. The club is being rebuilt from the juniors up. As shit as the NRL side is going, the dirty work is being done - crowd favourites have either been moved on (Grothe, Tahu, Mortimer) or will be at the end of the year (Hindmarsh, Moimoi, Burt, Shackleton). So the board can let Kearney get rid of the blokes who are either past it or have bad attitudes, and then make him the scapegoat if they want. It's still to the club's benefit.
What needed to be done is still getting done, and a new coach can come in and start fresh. With a lot of room to move under the salary cap, and the right players still under contract.
What good player in their right mind would want to come here at the moment???
Ones that like money???
Nothing stopped the Canterbury Four from coming and changing our attitude in the mid 90s.
Saints have been in poor form for the last month & we choked again (so much for a change in culture). Unlike us, they will take this ugly win, grow from it and go on to more than likely make the 8. Next week, we'll get lapped....again.
We'll see.
