The most pleasing and most worrying aspect of the last two weeks is that every top 8 team has imploded against weaker opposition except the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs (OK the Sea Eagles just held in there too). That's great because it is showing resolve and creating a buffer for us but it is also a worry because it is gaining momentum for the teams on the fringe of the 8
Contrary to popular belief we can still miss the finals if the Titans, Knights and Dragons keep winning and every game we play for the rest of the season, except the Eels (who are killing it), is potentially against a team playing for their season
Not taking anything away from the performance on Sunday but the Tigers were always going to be weak and certainly had no real form with their players on deck. The real test for us will be the next two games against the Titans and the Sea Eagles and then the next against the Sharks depending on whether they arrest their slump in the mean time. Those games are against current top 8 teams at risk of losing their finals berth with a loss and all with tough games coming up - so they cant afford more than one loss.
I really get concerned that the breathing space we now have (can't drop lower than third if we lose this weekend) could breed complacency against hungrier opposition
I hope Michael Maguires message this week is "Keep the foot on the pedal"
