Kennedy out for 3 months

Unfairly criticised player IMO gets through a heap of tackles, makes sufficient yards and often gets most after impact and was just starting to find his rhythm in the absence of JWH & Moa.

His foot injury was apparently so bad the doctor feared he would never walk again. Sad to see him cop another lengthy serious injury.

It's a bugger for MK..

His form has been that good he was 18th man for Origin..

Hopefully this is the end of his injury worries..

The big fella deserves an even break..

Damn shame as Marty was on the up, a cruel blow given the nature of how it happened.

Chook.

I've bagged his dumb shit he's but agree that he was just starting to really hit his straps. Would've been great with the beast JWH back this week.

Wonder how this injury is going to affect the issues with our second tier cap as well.

Regarding Marty's 3 month layoff, can the club take him off the 1st tier squad for the rest of the year and elevate Nappa from the 2nd?

The top 25 is really only the salary players get isn't it rather than handing in a list of 25 players that is your squad? Players that fall outside of the 25 are lumped in to the second tier and once that's full - as it apparently is - you're stuck with those players unless extenuating circumstances arise such as Friday nights reshuffle.

From what I can gather between the Moylan and Evans incidents they couldn't play because the second tier cap was used up before they played so the NRL say you have the depth the cover an injured player and will tell us that Tasi and Arona will suffice as they did last week. Which is a piss take because Arona is no prop as the club tried to point out last week.

Marty has already counred towards the salary cap so you can't remove him and elevate Napa I don't think but It may well be that we can get permission to play Napa with all the controversy surrounding Moylan and now Evans but I think we'll have to make do with Liu and Tasi.

That's how I understand the top 25 anyway. Don't take it as fact.

Fair summary TT, you'd imagine Robbo would want to promote Napa in place of MK but I know the schu has apparently stated we have to use Arona. Ridiculous if true.

Second tier cap is all bullshit anyway, it's not like Evans and Napa would be on huge money - probably minimum wage or thereabouts - so hoarding talent isn't an issue there. It's not like us or Penrith are trying to bring in Israel Folau without counting towards our main salary cap. From memory Kane Evans came via Newtown in the HM or SG Ball so he's been with us long enough and through enough junior channels to warrant some sort of exemption.

I really think that the 25 has to be expanded to 30 or the second tier cap has to significantly rise. Preferably both.

And yet people still think Ian Schubert gives us preference

Someone on the chookpen posted some stuff bout the second tier cap, it's risen 25% while minimum wage has risen 125%. It's ridiculous.

According to Massoud's article it's something like $375k. The actual salary cap is what, $6m? Absolute madness.

Exemptions need to apply. Under the age of 23, been at the club for a minimum of 3 years or played SG Ball or 1 year NYC and no less than say 20 first grade games they become exempt from the salary. It allows you to promote them so long as you bring them through but also doesn't allow abusing of the system. IMO at least.

Players like Evans and Moylan should not be denied when they have come through junior channels.

Give LOD another year. He was immense last night and lead from the front for the first 32 mins and is getting better as the year goes on.

Chook.

What's so good about Casty? Comparing the stats of Roosters props and locks to Casty and he is barely comparable to FPN.

LOD is averaging 100m a game, 23 tackles and 9m a carry. Well above Casty's work rate in a far weaker competition and LOD started off the bench for the first 6 or so games he played. There is most definitely room for LOD next year if his body is up to it.

Since this thread is about Kennedy he averages 9.6m per gain and 90m per game to go with his 26.7 tackles. Not bad for a so called dud and like LOD he did it coming off the bench for the first few months.

Remy Casty is getting a pass because nobody knows who the hell he is. I sure hope to christ we don't end up losing one of Kane Evans or Dylan Napa for this bloke especially considering Kane Evans is off contract end of next season.

Casty v London Broncos (last with 3 wins in 21 games)

13 runs 81 metres 26 tackles 4 missed tackles. Lopini Paea made the same metres from 7 runs

He will be a Newtown player with FPN's re-signing and hopefully LOD's re-signing too

I'm not prepared to write him off just yet. I'll wait till he shows up before I make judgement.
