Kenny wants to be halves coach

Eels legend Brett Kenny, who is coaching the club's NSW Cup side, Wentworthville, said he would like to be considered as a replacement halves coach.

''That would certainly interest me,'' Kenny said. ''I've got a lot of admiration for [halves Daniel Mortimer and Kris Keating], the way they play the game.

''I enjoy passing on some tips and helping them out.''

So Johns was a halves "consultant" who dropped in at training one every two weeks (and did the same for a few other clubs).

How do we suddenly go to needing a replacement "halves coach"? I think Ossy would be wise to take the money as a saving... just buy our halves a copy of this and be done with it:

look, I'd like nothing more than to see Bert succede as a coach at this club and if he does look after our halves I hope he does a fanatstic job but given the publicity he recieved regarding his plight and the fact that he's living at is parents place, it just smacks as a desperate grab at a job..

Heck, it'd be awesome to see em in SOO as well. I remember watching a few old vids of the old Parra squad, excellent players and i'd love to see that kind of standard hit Parra again.

Makes me a proud old supporter - not.

Can we give these "reports" & interviews from old players a break? I'm disappointed that I read people taking pot shots at people who have proudly worn the blue & gold to our only premierships ever.

So what if they are making dumb comments - we all know that they 100/1 ever getting the role.

Pricey bled many a time for the glory of our team. (& I recall Bert having a bandage around his head a few times over the years)

These blokes are legends of our club...
So what if they aren't up there with the brightest sparks in the community (remember they were footy players)...

If they can offer some guidance to these kids i reckon let them.
If it doesn't work try soomeone else.

I'm only sh*tty at Kenny because everytime he's interviewed or quoted he's trying to sell himself for a potential job - it just sh*ts me, its like they'll ask him a question about footy boots and all of sudden it seems to revert back to his unemployment or lack of money atm.
