Can someone explain to me how the current assistant coach of the Brisbane Broncos is allowed to be a sideline commentator??

I was pretty shocked to hear him talk about what instruction Paul Green gave the Cowboys in the sheds at half time.

Sure they aren't playing the Broncos this week... But that doesn't seem right IMO...

Alexander is a Penrith director and calls just about all their games

Gould is Penrith GM and calls games

Plus Phil Gould and other Ch9 commentators continually give free mentions about sponsors of the Panthers. Andrew Johns is a halves coach at Manly too - so should be allowed to commentate ? Even if he doesn't have any current official role with the Roosters, I'm sure Brad Fittler has had a role at the Roosters & been a Ch9 commentator. The list goes on.....

Brett Kimmorley is also apart of the Tigers coaching staff, before that he was raiders and I think I remember him coaching lower grades at the Bulldogs.

Geez noddy's been to a few clubs recently, but then again he should be used to it after his playing days.

Being paid for expert commentary is one thing but getting into the sheds to potentially get insight to coaching strategies is a concern, especially when you're the head coaches stooge

Nope, Brad Fittler is not on the Roosters payroll. Only ex-players who are:

- Craig Fitzgibbon (Assistant Coach);
- Mark Riddell (SG Ball Coach);
- Anthony Minichiello (Marketing);
- Luke Ricketson (Board of Directors).

Mark Riddell hasn't been involved with the SG Ball side since 2012. He is not employed by the club in any capacity.

Not easy to find co-commentators who haven't had or have an affiliation with a club. The role is essentially the domain of former players and or/coaches.
