As we have been talking about High School Rugby League - AYRLA's Third Phase of Youth Development in The USA is Launching This Spring. This will add to the U23 and Middle School Programs and Competitions (Additionally we have and will continue to hold clinics).

We started Recruitment today at one of the Providence High Schools. This is the smallest High School we will be recruiting at, so we started early to gauge the interest of students their especially to see if we would need to combine them with another school come spring time.

We saw some familiar and unexpected faces from kids that participated in one of our middle school flag competitions and summer camps.

We recruited 59 Kids - We were expecting 10-15 max. We were expecting at the larger schools 20-30 kids signing up especially because we know we have more former middle school students at the other schools. This means that this program is going to be big. We still have 5 More Schools to recruit at and may end up with 6 teams instead of 4, with 6 JV Teams (2nd Grade Teams).

Please Spread the word and donate what you can as we now need more than ever to hit our targets http://www.razoo.com/story/American-...ue-Association

So after day two at E3 High School in Providence 87 Kids signed up to represent their school. About 25 of them are Girls. Looks like we may launch High School Boys and Girls Rugby League teams this Spring. Over the coming months we will be recruiting at 5 more schools in Providence.
We have the interest help us raise the money to ensure we launch the program this spring - all donations are tax deductible - http://www.razoo.com/story/American-Youth-Rugby-League-Association

RIR great work. I will get onto your link today and then share it around.

Question, that diagram you showed earlier, is that what the education system really looks like in the US?
So messy and confusing.

yes its quite accurate.. note that some cities and towns follow one path while others follow another... so its really not that confusing if you follow it that way

ex one might follow the high school / Jr high School / Elementary model
whilst another will follow the high school / middle school / elementary model

The common thread is the College and High school as you see in the diagram

Off topic, but Australia is no better, some primary schools go to yr 6 while others do yr 7. Some schools have mid-year intakes and some states have different starting ages.

We are working in Iowa to get something going for middle school kids in conjunction with the YMCA, fingers crossed it gets going nicely.

RIB and others in the US have passion for the game and a desire for it to succeed there.

Australia is much more straight forward. We have a qualification framework which sorts out the levels of education and are soon to have a national model which will bring the states into line (which most are anyway.

Although considering the size of the US I geuss its not as easy to keep them all in alignment.

The 13s have set up a U23 Team.

I am working with a RIR Player who runs a summer camp in CT about putting an AYRLA program.

And we are setting something up in tx.

Well done Lawrence, you are great bastion of Rugby League in the US, keep up the great work. I'm glad there are individuals who see the importance of building from the ground up.

I wish you well IowaRL, you're obviously very motivated and this is definitely where the future of the sport needs to be built from to be sustainable.
