it's a shame that is all he has, but still new to NRL

his passing game is very average

toops was the only ball player out there tonight

I don't think kicking is all that he has, his work in defence has been pretty impressive for the last 4 weeks as well.

its good a half back can defend solid as they are often targeted, but he is as boring as bat sh*t unless he is kicking the ball

What was Seu x2 doing then?
true

seu added a lot when he came on and iirc hughes didnt get a look in until there only was about 10 mins to go

its true porter aint no gavin miller in the ball playing department spidey though i dont think he is quite as bad as you make out

i still think the backline is not setting itself properly in attack

and in any case it is no coincidence that the emergence of a tactical kicker, a very vary good tactical kicker, has seen us actually win some games albeit against lowly opposition

Has porter cut your grass or something??
You have attacked him every week since he came into 1st grade.
I'm sure you liked it better when we were losing. And yes I think he has played a massive role in our last 5 wins.

imo i see him as average with the ball

i do think he has an excellent foot on him though - that i dont doubt for a second

if you get the chance to see a replay, keep an eye on his passing for the entire game, i think you would be surprised

as for his vision and experience - that just comes with experience, but he did miss some glaring opportunities

one of his jobs is to organise and settle the back line, as you mentioned, but he could still be unsettled himself being only so many games into the top grade

who knows - he could be our version of mick crocker on the win ratio (until we face a stronger opponent at least)

it was a great win no doubt - but i wasnt fluffed up over it

care to point out where i have attacked him?

i actually commend him many times on part of his game - but you seem to have missed that

i have expressed an opinion and explained what i based it on, which is what i thought we do in here??

FTR - its been 4 wins ;-)

good analysis though on your behalf - keep up the sharp work!

its ok for porter to turn inside balls, but the guy who's team leads the cop gets bagged for it - lol

Are just a few of your comments. Clearly you are not going to bag this kicking game as he's the best kicker we have had in a long time.
But you bagged him for throwing inside balls which is the game plan set by Ricky.
I don't think his passing game is a bad as you make out. Yes it can get better, but I think that is something that will come over time.

But yes you are right, we are both entitled to our opinions.

thats right - all along i have said his kicking game is good

i have also wished him many an opportunity and hopefully more attacking flare

his inside balls are getting worse each week, one could ask some of the guys who ran off the bad ones last night

so if my opinion is in contrast to yours, i am bagging him out....?

i am being critical in those comments, yes - but i wouldn't say im bagging him out

ill note that scott porter is exempt from a critical view point just because we beat poor opposition

That's more a case of the line Millington was running more than anything, but I don't really have a problem with him throwing them inside if it is Ricky's orders because tries have come from them, when executed well.

I thought it was encourage that he tested his passing game wide to Tupou a couple of times, one leading to a try to Fergo. I hope he keeps persisting with it, especially to bring Stapleton into the attack as he plays a cutie-esque role in the deep inside opposition 30m and draws defenders wide.

But all that said, I am happy for Porter to control the kicking and for Barrett to have the handle on putting the men into the gap.

I'd have to say that Porters kicking game last night was nothing spectacular. Yes his first kick was a 40/20 and he shot up two good bombs and 1 well weighted kick but other than that...... I wouldnt be breaking out the kneeling pad.

Porter did manage to catch whatever the Donks had during the night and suffered a few miserable looking kicks for touch.

Porter isnt a wizard with the ball (yet) but I believe he has the potential.

I can see spider's point. Porter needs a right to left pass in a hurry for one thing. Sitting high up in the ET stand last night it was clear we were always going to go around them or get overlaps. Those Broncs kids had the severe wanders infield.

Where Porter fell down on a few occasions, especially second half was that we had overlaps on our left but he looked, shaped, and thankfully thought better of trying to get the ball out there and ended up taking a meek tackle. His long passes are like the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He couldn't get the ball out wide to save himself.

That, Barrett knockers, is where Baz was badly missed last night. He would of been able to have a go at a few bullets and Fergo could og got 4 or 5 tries!.

That said, Porter is a halfback. A true halfback. He's a general and it shows. He's getting them around the field. He's got the forwards deeper and hitting the ball harder.

If someone can now just work on the backs getting deeper.

pull your head you halfwit

all his kicks were superb, especially the ones that found the men on the full

afterall, he was credited with one TA out of the 8 tries, even though it bounced off the broncos shoulder into mitch's arms to then cross the line

you may have to lend his followers your kneeling pad..provided its not worn out

even his second kick (after the 40/20) that went backwards??

His passing needs some serious work. One of his short passes almost put Stapleton in Hospital. The coaching staff need to teach the young fella how to spiral the ball. His two handed lofty passes are going to be coach killers.

my opinion: his kicking game is the only thing keeping him in the side - but I wasnt "over the top" excited about it.
