Kill Bill 1 and 2

Finally bothered watching them

I love Pulp Fiction and I thought Kill Bill 1 was OK but thought Kill Bill 2 was not that good

Had some good moments but I'd say the pair of them is quite over rated

IT's basically a movie full of moments from other movies - I'd prefer originality, even if there are a few references here and there

Dont know why Tarantino would bother with a kung fu style flick anyway

Kill Bill 2 is not a movie I would watch again

Opinions?

That's not a terribly original critique either - I've read similar in countless reviews.

The Kill Bill movies are entertaining. What more can you ask of a film?

Reviewing films isnt an art, I dont have an obligation to be original

I liked Pulp Fiction because it is character and plot driven

I reckon Kill Bill is as much centred on the action scenes as the plot/characters/dialogue/whatever

You say it's entertaining - my point is that it isnt that entertaining
Kill Bill wouldnt have been noticed by so many if it werent a Tarantino movie

But I guess that's Tarantino's problem - having all his films compared to his previous work

i liked them both, actually prefered the second one as it was more plot driven. with less focus on the action/gore

fantastic movies, i love the references to all the martial arts fillms that inspired tarantino when he was growing up. being a martial arts fan i can appreciate the shaw brothers logo at the opening, the replica of bruce lees costume in game of death uma wears etc. the problem most people had with kill bill was it wasn't typical tarantino film making. He purposely removed all the edgy dialogue we have come to expect to push the primary point of the plot. Its just a story of bloody revenge, plain and simple.

That's probably a lot of why I'm not a huge fan - I dont really like martial arts films

Two great films IMO, and I prefer Volume 2. If they didn't entertain you, then that's your loss; the first was Tarantino's homage to kung fu films which helped shaped the kind of filmmaker he is today and the second one was more plot-driven, and I was enthralled for every minute.

both piles of shyte

by far the worst thing tarantino has done

sillyest fight scenes in history that went on way too long

over rated pompous nonsense

I give both movies 3.5 out of 5 but I can see where ShireKing is coming from because I enjoyed moments of the movies more than the movies itself.

It had some classic scenes like when Darryl Hannah had her eye ripped out and squashed and the line from David Carradine, "your not a bad person, but sometimes you can be real c***". But I didnt like the look and feel of some of the scenes because I feel he had copied them as opposed to being inspired by them.

I look back on the them and enjoy moments like those more so than the actual movie itself.

First one is all good. Second one isn't my thing.

The fights do go on too long and are too unbelievable. I need some sense of realism in a movie.

That's exactly what I reckon.

I also agree with darth bobo that there were good moments, like the eye being ripped out but this was outweighed by this

I didnt like the look and feel of some of the scenes because I feel he had copied them as opposed to being inspired by them.

Very well said.

I enjoyed both for totaly seperate reasons the first for it's in your face gore and action, whilst the second was a legacy to explain why the first volume came to be and what drove her to being who she realy was.

I think when one watches a movie or movies of this genre they must look past face value and dig a little deeper to realise what the director is saying.

I liked 'em, sure they were a bit wanky (tarantino loves to show off his influences with stylistic parlour tricks) but I found theym very enjoyable anyway.
