King Of The Ring

Is anyone else starting to miss the King of the Ring Tournment? I mean it was a real good way in pushing talent, and with all these guys right now looking to get some pushes to the main event stage (Christian etc), it would be a real good way in getting them fighting for that heavyweight title.

I said as much in another thread a while back. What's the point of calling a PPV 'King of the Ring' if you don't run the legendary tournament? Guys like Christian, Muhammed Hassan, and the like could all benefit immensely from a tournament like that. Just look at Edge a few years on from his own win.

Not only Edge. You look at guys like Angle, Brock Lesnar, HHH, Stone Cold. All those guys got pushed to main event status not to long after thier king of the ring victories.

Bring back King of the Ring :twisted:

The only problem I have with it is that there are ALREADY more than enough PPV's. Unless you are going to have it in the form of a tournament on RAW and Smackdown and have the best of Smackdown vs. the best of RAW on at Wreslemainia or Summerslam! To have the tournament you need to remove a PPV!

Well Obviously you would take out the June PPV to cover for the King of the Ring. And last year i believed that there were 2 PPV's in June....so cut both if they are on again this year and add KOTR

Just get rid of the Heavyweight title shot stipulation and it would be good.

Why? What's wrong with the idea of the King Of The Ring Winner getting a title shot at SummerSlam?

It elavates them way too quickly.

That was the problem with Brock, after he had won the title and the Rumble he had pratically done everything in the WWE.

I'd suggest they keep it and change it to a stipulation like that used in the money in the bank match. They're not rushing Edge's world title shot, and instead they've used a feud with Benoit to build him up. Much better business.

I miss King of the Ring. An 8 man tournament including say Edge, Christian, Benjamin, Randy Orton, Jericho, Benoit, HBK, HHH.

Winner gets a title shot at Summerslam against the champ.

Replace it back with the Bad Blood PPV... that one always sucks a whole lot of crap so it would be fitting for it to go..
