Kiwi Orgin...Club Orgin

I've raised this point before about a Kiwi Orgin and I think it would be awsome if something could take place.

Now I've put some thought into it and I have thought of one possibility.

It would be a little different form State v's State or Ethnic group v's Ethnic Group.

I was thinking of something pretty Simple.

One Side would be able to pick players who debuted in First Grade for the Warriors and the Other side would be able to select those who did not.

The Thing that makes State of Orgin so popular is the passion each team brings to beat the
other team. For a Kiwi Orgin to be succesful both teams would have to bring that State of Orgin
Intensity to the game. And I think you would get.

I think the teams would be pretty even. These Could be Possible teams...just off the top of my head.

It could happen at the same time the Aussies have theirs. It would be good if Super league could have theres at the same time as well so we could select super league players.

One complication I can see is that it might suffer the Warriors NRL campaign, similar to the way that the Broncos suffer around State of Origin time.Looking at your 34 players nominated, I've counted 11 current players from the Warriors.

I like the State of origin. Its perhaps the highlight of the League season for me. However, I do not believe that a New Zealand equivalent is necessary, or plausible.

I'd much rather see Bartercard cup games reguarly taking place before the Warriors games again, as curtain raisers

Fair enough Scuba but for me it is something I would like to see. I think it would be great entertainment and would be a good "trial" for the Kiwis much the same Origin is for the Australians.

It would be hard on the the warriors much the same way it is on the Broncoes but since the inception of the Broncoes they seem to have done alright in terms of winning competitions.

It would be good the see the continual development of the Bartcard Cup but I don't think A Kiwi Origin would hurt. Now it might become a problem if a second team was introduced in the NRL but that might not happen for a while.

You are right about how plausible it would be...but for me I would like to see two Kiwi teams going full throtle head to head throwing everything at each other. The likes of Wiki Vs Betham, Seu Seu Vs Cayless, Gnalavou Vs Puletua. The Forward clashe would be awsome.

Anyway like you said how plausible...? Well.

I think that could be a problem - passion like that can't be manufactured. New South Wales & Queensland have been hating each other since time began (well, practically!). I don't think the rivalry with a North vs South (or Auckland vs the Rest) match would come anywhere close.

I'm with Scuba on this in that I don't see an N.Z equivalent of SOO necessary at the moment. Maybe a North vs South battle, with Bartercard Cup players only might work for starters - or an annual challenge between the SOO winners and the Kiwis might be a goer too.

i like martys idea and a 3 game origin series would make for an awesome kiwis trial.

I think you are right when you say passion cannot be manufactured and it would be a disaster if some sort of Kiwi Origin was staged and their was that artifical value there.

But IMO I think A New Zealand Warriors Vs the expats would create a real sense of passion.

On the One Side you would have the NZWarriors a private Franchise that selects the cream of NZ talent, the club every Kiwi boy dreams of playing for. Then You have the rest of the guys who "in theory" didn't make the "cut" and had to travel overseas to get a contract.

In my mind the psychology of it would be awesome. It would make for an great dynamic.

This Phenomena of the "best" being sleected by the warriors and the rest going overseas will not take shape for at least another few years becuase the are still a generation Kiwi pre NZ/Auckland Warriors running around in the NRL e.g. Wiki, Kearney, Robbie Paul etc.

But at the same time you would have guys like Puletua, Cayless, and Benji Marshall poping up as well.

I think if the right angle was taken in terms of what the series was about it would be awsome. Much the same way the Aussie Origin is not only about state vs State but also about something a little deeper.

I Like it ... the so call "Best" Vs the so called "Rest" kiwi style.

What about a kiwi SL vs. NRL game?

As can be seen by the Bulls - Panthers game there are some good NZ players in the UK, who probably feel that they deserve more from the NZ selectors.

The Kiwi selectors would love to have ESL players like Robbie Paul, but the ESL Clubs refuse to release them (the only release GB Players....)

If the NZ media gets behind idea like this it could work. But i dont really see that happening any time soon.

With all these young KIWI boys coming through the System, Sonny Bill Williams, Karmichael Hunt etc... now more than ever I think we need our own type of Origin.

At the moment with all due respect to International league it can't compete with State of Origin. Its Natural for young guys to aspire to become the "best" and at the moment Origin is the "best".

Naturaly we all want to see International league become the best and the only way that will happen is for the Kiwis to become truely Competetive. For this to happen we need first to get ALL OUR PLAYERS playing for New Zealand... ie Sonny Bill Williams, Karmichael hunt etc.

Now some of you guys will argue that the guys I have mentioned (Sonny Bill Williams, Karmichael hunt etc) would not make the kiwis at the moment and yes you are right...but they have the abilty and Potential to become real Superstars of the game and we need to make sure that are not stolen.

By starting our own type of "Origin" we will offer our Representive players another High intensity field to test and enjoy themselves in...As well as being a good trial for the Kiwis, and another lure to keep Kiwi boys Kiwi.

The idea has merit.

The big problem is without the Kiwis in the ESL (Swann, Paul e.g) it would be preety one sided, and I beat my house Bradford wont release them unless they get large wad's of cash chucked at them.
