They have some rotten luck.

Hiku and Glenn now out and Shaun Kenny Dowell 50/50. Already missing RTS, Vatuvei, Foran, Mautalino, Whare, Mannering, Leuluai etc.

Luck? Or just can't be arsed?
RTS is out for the season, Foran is having mental health issues that stopping him playing for anyone, Manu and Mutts are on the naughty chair, and Whare, Mannering and Leuluai are out injured.

We got some good luck with the overrated Hiku getting injured but we appear not to be bringing Rapana or Hoffman in as cover which is nuts.

Fair to say injury and the like are to balme here 'Spud.

Touchwood, but I hope all nations can bring their best squads to the 4 Nations. Is there anyone out injured long term foe England or Scotland at the moment?

Can't believe Rapana didn't get a gig. He has been arguably the best winger in the comp over the last few weeks.

Rapana was born in NZ and is Maori and Cook Island Maori - you object to him playing for his country of birth and descent?

at least they have depth now.

10-15 yars go they would be pulling blokes from reserve grade to step up

or even 20-25 years ago guys would be pulled from anywhere - clayton friend comes to mind for the 91 test I think was playing park footy at the time

Brad takarangi has been named 18th man. He is also a Cook Islands international and is Australian born
Would also be interested to know when manu mau actually changed from Tonga to NZ as he was the face of the pacific test series advertising one month ago.

About rapana....do you allow someone who have already tried to help one nation qualify for the world cup but failed...a chance to play for another nation in the world cup instead???

The answer is no btw

Ma'u's not being forced to play for the Kiwis, if he hasn't changed he wouldn't be playing for us (and by us I mean the country he's from).

The answer is yes, because the rules allow it.

You two are carrying on like tits, the rules are the rules, but you're having a whine and making up your own as you go along.

No one is holding a gun to Ma'u's head, he's not going to get a financial windfall from the Kiwis and he likely would never have turned out for Tonga if it barred him from playing for the Kiwis. I expect the Rapana would be the same.

This is the attitude that sees us going nowhere as an international game.
And it's also a view shared by the players unfortunately.

Actually, I believe the rules actively disallow playing for one country to qualify them for a tournament and then playing for another in that tourney.

But hey, it seems we don't even pretend to follow rules anymore.
