One thing is for certain we have a major issue with the 3/4 line...We really needed to replace Macdougall with a high quality player, Vigana would have been great. Do we have any good young wingers coming thru, i can never see premiere league.
Quinn has shown that he is developing into a blockbusting centre, and Hall is a handy player. I am just concerned that if Tahu is injured what do we do?
If we get a few injuries in the backs we are in big trouble....
Wingers of firstgrade standard are in short supply, but we have a lot of possibilities now with the players we have bought.
Kevin Henderson has been playing centre for Souths Premier League and was bought on the recommendation of David Fairleigh, which probably means he is a rugged type of player. He is a big and strong back and was originally from the Central Coast.
Witt has the speed to play wing, and I can't see why he shouldn't. A fast and elusive player outside the Gidley brothers will have a ball.
Richardson can play wing.
Salkeld and Carmont could both play wing if needed.
The main wingers from Premier League this year were Josh Smith and Michael Fortier. Both are small and not quite up to standard. I expect both to be cut. Michael Young, the Premier League fullback, is faster than a lot of people think.
From Flegg we have Blake Tremain-Cannon, Michael Doggett and Ryan Woo.
Blake is not solid, but he is reasonably tall and fast as they get. I'd say he is the fastest man at the club, and may develop into the fastest in the League. Last season was his first at the club and he learnt heaps. I'd rate him a chance to go all the way to firstgrade next year.
Doggett has a great build and is fast. He is a Mad dog type of winger who never goes easy when tackled, but needs to build a lot of strength before he is in the Mad dog class of course. He does drop the ball a bit as well.
Ryan Woo is a little guy who struggles in every tackle and often makes good yards. He is a mini Matt Utai, but obviously needs to improve 200% to be in the same class.
