^Considering Barry Toohey wrote on Sunday that the Knights hadn't had any contact with Snowden since the Tinkler deal went through (although he said they will), I think I know who I'm more inclined to believe (although in this case I hope Rothfield is right for once).

lets frame some odds for an impending TSG announcement

$1.05 - Snowy Coming Home
$2.10 - Snowy Coming Home + Bennett to Newcastle
$7.60 - Snowy Coming Home + Bennett to Newcastle + Jamal Idris to Newcastle
$15.00 - Snowy Coming Home + Bennett to Newcastle + Darius Boyd to Newcastle
$25.00 - Snowy Coming Home + Bennett to Newcastle + Jamal Idris to Newcastle + Darius Boyd to Newcastle

it's sorta fun being one of the rich guys and chasing these sorts of names, lol. i don't mind the $2.10 option, and i reckon i'm giving juicy odds on the Snowy, Bennett, Idris trifecta.

If you are right Pervy then they are very decent odds. More to the point part of me sees De Gois being the sacrifical lamb cap wise to accommodate Boyd because Gids may well move to hooker to accommodate Boyd and Henry. The chance to coach a kid like henry would be a big reason why Benny wants in among other things. It should be noted that Boyd has not 100% committed to leaving Saints yet. I can also see him moving back to brisbane regardless as from recent comments he is more at home in Qld.

yeah those odds are pretty rich... i should probably switch the Idris and Boyd odds... i don't think Idris is as good a chance anymore. you might clean me up there, TJS.

Yep, I very well might. And what's worse, I know where you live!

I don;t think we are much chance on the Idris front either. The Dogs are sucking his c*ck unbelievably hard, and tbh I think we were only chasing him because we didn;t think we'd get Bennett (and therefore Boyd).

As long as we are planning to keep Kidley and Sau, I don't think we need Idris AND Boyd.

Wayne Bennett could kill off Kade Snowden deal

WAYNE Bennett's possible signing with the Newcastle Knights could cost the club the signature of tearaway Origin front-rower Kade Snowden unless the Sharks star takes a substantial paycut.

Bennett has had an unwritten rule throughout his coaching career that front-rowers should not be paid more than $300,000 a year to ensure an even spread of talent across the team.

His premiership-winning Dragons outfit is renowned for being a champion team rather than a team of champions, using a group of disciplined hard workers up front rather than superstar props.

At the Broncos he was famous for releasing champion prop Glenn Lazarus to Melbourne Storm and for allowing Petero Civoniceva to sign with Penrith.

He also got rid of Jason Ryles because he was on over $300,000 at St George Illawarra, and at the Broncos years ago he did not try to match Andrew Gee's offer to join Warrington.

The only exception to the rule was champion Maroons prop Shane Webcke, but it's common knowledge he played for "unders" at the Broncos because he never wanted to leave Brisbane.

Kade Snowden could not be contacted yesterday but he has told Sharks teammates in recent days he is worried about Bennett's reputation for not splashing out on front-rowers.

He could decide to take a $250,000 paycut over four years for the chance to play under the supercoach and move home to be with his parents.

Snowden's manager Todd Buckingham said the Sharks prop was not concerned about the contract negotiations stalling. "Everyone can see it's not affecting Kade's form for the Sharks," Buckingham said, "It's just business as usual and we're all comfortable with the situation.

"I spoke to the Knights last week and they've obviously got a few things to put in place before they can put an offer on the table."

Cronulla offered Snowden $1.1 million over three years and Buckingham agreed in principle before Nathan Tinkler phoned Snowden and asked him to hold off.

you know what, f**k what i posted the first time. that article is pure speculation based on Waynes previous form and a few assumptions. the only actual quotes say everyone is comfortable where things are currently at. it could happen, but lets just see how we go. Wayne certainly isn't known for paying frontrowers overs.

If Bennett wants a pack full of consistent, disciplined hard workers, he probably won't want Snowy.

Then again, he won't want Tui, Faas, Tolar, Pato, Houston, or Kaufusi either.

Nev, Zebby and Hilder will have to play two positions each cos they are the only forwards we'll have.

Sounds rubbish to me. The salary cap hasn't been sitting at its current level for the last 20 odd years while Bennett has been a coach. There is no way a $300,000 prop in the days of Lazarus would be worth the same value today.

Shocked that it came from the Telegraph - Rothfield trying to stir trouble because the Knights are going to take a player from his favourite team.

Sounds like rubbish to me.

That's a lol article. He'll get paid 300k in the cap and then another million from Tink's pocket. It's a done deal mate.
