This is the team that has been named;

  1. Robbie O’Davis
  2. Timana Tahu
  3. Matthew Gidley
  4. Kurt Gidley
  5. Craig Hall
  6. Sean Rudder
  7. Andrew Johns (c)
  8. Josh Perry
  9. Danny Buderus
  10. Adam Woolnough
  11. Steve Simpson
  12. Matthew Jobson
  13. Daniel Abraham
Interchange:
  1. Matthew Kennedy
  2. Todd Bates
  3. Luke Quigley
  4. Mark Hughes
I really doubt that Matt Jobson will take the field. He has a broken nose and fractured sinuses from last week's game. There is a lot of speculation that Ben Kennedy will have a fitness test and could play. It's interesting that Todd Bates is preferred to Andrew Price on the bench. I thought Price was the more impressive last week. Mark Hughes played half a game of reserve grade last week and very much looked like he has been out of the game for nearly a year by all reports. He will have to play at some stage. It will be interesting to see how they shuffle the team to fit him in. This is a must win game for the Knights. Melbourne will put up a good fight, but the Knights will be too good at home. Joey is due for a big game.

The most interesting match up will be Billy Slater and Matt Gidley.

I haven't seen Slater play, but if he is half as slippery as people say he should make some breaks. Hopefully Tahu and O'Davis will be able to round him up in cover defence.

On the other side of the coin, Gidley just loves to match up against small defenders. He will draw two defenders every time, and Tahu will be salivating waiting for the Gidley flick when he does.

Slater is a gun. He is right up there with Preston, ill watcha match just to see him play. Watch him go Roopy, so quick and elusive. Hope Gidley and Tahu bring their tackling games or they will get torn to shreds! I give Melb a chance in this game actually, although im not game enough to pick them
Cheers,

The Storm are riddled with injury and will lose by heaps this week.
I don;t think that the Storm have ever won at Marathon....came close one year......where a couple of my girlfriends were that day......came home with Newcastle spittle all over clothes

Ms Storm. "...Storm are riddled with injury and will lose by heaps this week."
Fair go and chin up. Ithink Newcastle will win too... but you as a drizzle supporter should never allow realism to get in the way of mindless optimism.

hmmm, i often wondered why there seemed to be a cloud of mist go up every time the knights scored a try,, i thought it must have been a geo-thermal area....

from what i have heard about newcastle and newcastleites, mrs storm, you are lucky to come away with any clothes at all

The final make up of tonights team is as clear as mud still.
Parsons and Kennedy have been training with the team. Parsons looks to be set to play, but Kennedy can't get a medical clearence, so he is no hope.
Simpson and Jobson haven't been training with the team, but they are both good chances of playing.
Hughes and Tahu have both been cleared to play.

Roopy: "Newcastle is the cradle of Australian civilisation."
I think thats the crux of the problem...

We always have these funny games against Melbourne, where both sides forget howto tackle for periods of the game.
Leading Airman Craig Hall looks to be a great pick up for the team. He says he hasn't played on the wing for many years, but he looks good outside Hughes. Talking of Hughes, I don't think he was meant to play so much of the game, and he did look a bit rusty and a bit tired at times, but he will be much better for the run. It's good to see him back.
Parso is a legend.
Tahu needs to stay on the right wing for the rest of his life. Any move just confuses him.
Abraham is getting better every game, as is Woolnough.
Kurt Gidley has a stress fracture to the foot. If Robbie O gets injured we suddenly look a bit skinny at fullback again.
I don't need to mention Johns do I. I think it can be taken as read that any good win means that Johns had a blinder.

As a spectator I loved the game last night. As a Knights fan, I was disappointed in the fact they ran out to a huge lead only to let the opposition back into the game.

What causes this? It's been a component of their games over the last couple of seasons.

I was glad to see Johns kicking with a variety of kicks and a bit more cohesion shown throughout the whole team.

Huge wraps to Matty Parsons, the guy is just brilliant. I can't wait for next weeks game up against some real opposition, see how good the Knights can perform against some real defence.
