Great game to start the season.
Buderus no doubt MOTM.

David Seage a star in the making. he will replace Robie O.

Kurt Gidley... had a strong game, he needs to know when to hold "em know when to fold 'em, did some really good stuff and some really dumb stuff. (kick on the first tackle 5 metres out) over all though carried on from last year.

Woolly by far the most impressive of the young guns, I thought he lived up to the promise he showed two years ago, great game.

All in all though I was impressed with our defence it was awesome at times, not quite up to Gooster standard but getting there. Two points that were hard to get, we are on the way guys.

Definitely a star in the making - he made a few errors but thats expected in his first game.

He was cool under pressure and he did some good things - covering from the back from the minute he got on the field, getting into dummy half and even though the panthers scored from a kick out wide, he made sure he got it right when they tried the same play again.

Personally I thought he was going over when he went up the middle only to stumble and be tackled by Wesser.

With Robbie being injured the Knights have found the perfect replacement IMO

seage was terrific, as was wooly adn kidley looked strong and enthusiastic, but still making bad decisions occasionally. I was dissapointed with our attack and completino rate, while our defence was the best ive seen ina while, our attack was pretty bad in a number of ways, bad 5th tackle options, lousy kicks, bad handling. Richardsomn amde a few glaring errors, missing tackle on preston that saw them score, knocking on about 4 times, but he made some crucial tackles and did the unnoticed stuff well playihg a big part in that try of quinns. A good game with a lot of positives, but a lot to build on

i do, he played much betetr as an impact player, adn wooly played too well to take him back to the bench.

I definately got the impression the Robbie was concerned when seage replaced him. I really believe we are wittnesing a changing of the guard. Seage was everything robbie 'o can do plus some.

parsons was pretty slow and ordinary. if there was a better and proven alternative i wouldnt have him there at all. parsons really has to watch that rising knee in attack as well - saw it twice in his first three runs of the game.

So does everyone think we should start parso on the bench and woolnough starting?

I think so - Parsons should take a smaller role now that he's getting on in age and i thought he went okay from the bench tonight

Glad all you Knights fans have now seen how good David Seage is - there's always a degree of unwarrented specticism from NSW fans about the Queensland Cup standard.

Having said that, Seage has been close to the best player in the Cup for the past couple of years.

The TV commentators showed their ignorance with comments about the "youngster" Seage. He played more than 120 top grade games for the Wynnum Seagulls from 1998 to 2003. He has played for Queensland Residents for the past three seasons and is in his mid-twenties. Could someone also tell them that "Wynnum-Manly" hasn't existed for more than twelve years - I don't hear them referring to Wests Tigers as "Balmain" any more.

Personally, I think David Seage has got his timing perfect for moving to the NRL. He probably wasn't quite ready a couple of years ago but during 2003 was at the peak of his form and had nothing left to prove in the Queensland Cup. Don't be surprised if he is the Qld State of Origin fullback in the next few years.

comon parso is our main go forward man cant beleive what im reading.....

Kennedy couldnt do what he does without a big forward there and parso played a good game in my opinion... you cant expect him to play 100% first week

Wolly has alot to learn and Perry needs to control the ball and his temper. WE NEED PARSO

Seage was amazing. I'd heard wraps on him, but he played with the level head you'd expect from a regular starter. Shadowed the ball into touch well, saved us once or twice, and made some good runs. He'll definitely be a star in the years to come.

Kidley and Beds made up for a quiet games by Joey, which is still a good game by anyone else's standards. Would probably have picked Kurt as MoM though, but Buderus was inspirational regardless.

Woolnough looked the goods in the run-on. He's younger, faster, and fitter than Parsons. Save the big man for impact off of the bench.

Lowrie and Richardson didn't look bad either. Richo made a few mistakes, but came up with a corker of a tackle on Lewis to prevent a try.

All in all, we really did look good tonight despite our messy play. We made almost 100 more tackles than them, and had next to no possession and still came out on top. It's looking promising

I'm glad we've snapped up Searge now, and can groom him for an eventual full-time role at fullback.

I thought our attack, within the 30 meter line was the best i have seen... We scored when we had ample opportunities.. Our mistakes came around the 40-40m lines when we were trying to force and amke hospital passes and genuinely put pl;auers under pressure.. Our defence was awesome... Our fitness was good, lacked in some parts, but held up in the game... Well done boys!

Not sure who Manly will be playing at fullback ( Walker?) but they could be lamenting the one that got away. They've had ample oppurtunity to get Seagey on the books.
