Great offload from Pauli, great support from Hokko and great (eventual) support from Feeney

More of that please

God that offload from Pauli was aaaaaaaaamazing.

And yeah Aqua, that sounds about right. Couldn't even buy one.

If Pauli can offload like that he's just filled the skill I was worried about losing with Tapine...for literally a third of the price.

Maybe he's not complete shit.

I'm calling it now; making the transition to fullback Feeney won't look back. Being a half he will have good awareness of the kicking game of other halves, his tall, fast, can ball-play and is super enthusiastic.
I think he'll provided some positive moments from the back throughout the year.

One team is ready to play in the NRL. One team will take the rest of the season to try and get ready.
Smith is going to be critical to bringing experience to the team. We desperately need Mullen out there.
I reckon Randall will play more of a part than Levi for this season.

Also, is anyone else enjoying the commentary? These guys clearly know their shit and are genuine students of the game. I'd never heard of either of them. Most of what they've said has been bang on

That's a big call but judging by Levi's defence out there today, it wouldn't surprise me

Hope this is helpful for people who can't watch

As a team: Marker defence was non-existent apart from J Smith. Raiders made 70 metres a set. Second rowers left the halves all by themselves on the goal line, pretty poor stuff. Had no ball, plenty of mistakes and penalties. Can't say anything about attack because we never had the ball.

Feeney - Dropped a bomb, had a soft effort on BJ when 1-on-1 in D. Kicked a monster drop-out and backed up to score a nice try after a break
Mamo - Stinker. Did nothing right. Left his wing to let in a try, knocked on in the play the ball, took a ball dead in-goal unnecessarily.
Pat - Solid half. Carried the ball OK and looked up to in D. Had BJ covered when Mamo left his wing to leak a try.
Gagai - hasn't had anything to do
Aku - Took a bomb, made a huge 1-on-1 tackle on waqa I think. No mistakes.
Lamb - tries hard in defence but probably not quite strong enough for first grade yet, unless he has a second rower to babysit him. (which rochow wasn't doing)
Hodko - timing seems a little off but very solid. backed up pauli for a line break and try assist. good defender except for 1 try when BJ smoked him 1-on-1
Snowden - did lots of work, gave away lots of penalties. standard stuff
Levi - mixed bag. looked OK at times with the ball but couldn't control the ruck in D
Stockwell - invisible. give him an F
Rochow - not good in attack or D. left lamb 1-on-1 way too many times
Sims - had a few strong runs but terrible in D. and gave away 3 or 4 penalties. lacks the lateral quickness to play 2nd row D
J SMith - best on the field for us. made plenty of tackles when no on else seemed interested

Paea - very good off the bench, looked more interested than most forwards
Pauli - great stuff in attack. carrier players and made an unbelievable offload that led to our try

Aku looked very shaky there, letting the ball bounce. Lucky for him it went out

Gagai didn't even look interested in diving on that ball, offside or not. At least korbin shows enthusiasm

This team is only 3 players short of full strength by my count? Hooo boy, long season ahead.
