Knights v Wests Magpies - Premier League

i went to the game and was pretty dissapointed in alot of the players. Nat hinton played very ordinary, and it on seages performance yesterday its no wonder he is the number 1 jersey for FG. Also Thurston the captain was VERY VERY ordinary, he had an absolute shocker and was very surprised. Can't wait for quigs to come back. He didn't make it easy for himself arguing with the ref all the time, which i think is why the ref gave away so many penalties because Thurston couldn't keep his mouth shut. He definatly shouldn't be captain.

And walshy play ordinary aswell, he was chopping and changing sides all the time and was telling the new 5-8 to change to the other side (partly because i think he was so unfit that it was easier to tell the 5-8 to move to the other side than doing it himself.)

Outstanding player was definaltly James McManus, he play excellent. Was on form

Did Abraham get more involved than last week?

Abes play his best game since his return by a long way. He played the full 80 minutes too and didn't look to be struggling too much so his match fitness is getting there.

Abes really is 106kg, i thought that was just another mistake on our website but he is a monster now. He has really hit the weights. He looks as big as Snowden.

He is still a fringe running backrower but he seems to be getting contained pretty well, hope he hasn't lost too much speed by bulking up so much. He isn't making line breaks galore like he use to. But it does take at least 3 players to stop him in PL. Like Snowden he looks a lot bigger then most PL forwards.

In other words, rapidly improving. I'd expect him to push for a return in 3-5 weeks.

That's what i wrote in another thread Antonius. He did get more involved, not too much in defence but made quite a few hit ups out wide. Nothing too flashy.

Cheers RABK, I know I harp on a bit about the guy, just want things to turn round for him, takes a lot of guts to come through what he has.

yeah not really, abes went alright, wasn't very solid, i don't think he is ready for FG but he will prob get a run with Simpson is in origin, so hopefully he is ok and doesn't get hurt again.

Anyone who was at the game, who scored our second try, cos it was at the other end to where we were sitting and the announcer didn't say.

Yes it was scored by Luke Grant, all the boys pushed him down so he could score, i think there were 5 knights boys pushing him down. so it was a team try in my opinion.

Also there was a try down the scoreboard end by the west magpies that shouldn't of been allowed, i was right on the score line and there was a knights player, 17 i think who held him up!! so bad refereeing. Too many penalties also.

It must have been a pretty piss poor effort considering the magpies had never won a game prior to this. Shows our depth is not as good as first thought or did they go into the game with the wrong attitude.

Our PL side have been very disappointing this year. They are, and I hate to say this, a very very ordinary side at the moment. I can't understand how a team with so many players who have first grade experience can be sitting as low as they are on the comp ladder.

yeah it was a pretty poor effort by alot of players, i think they thought it was going to be an easy game because west are at the bottom of the ladder!!

I think alot has to do with David Fairleigh, he isn't using the boys to his best advantage. he is chopping and changing players all over the spot, putting brad tighe at 5-8 instead of his usual centre. If he kept brad tighe there and allowed another player to cement a spot then they would all gel and mould as a team. Instead of putting some players in for a week or two then putting them back in local league. This is happening alot in premier league. ALOT!!

Personally I thought the general idea was for Mullo and Walshy to play together in PL for the next year and a bit, so they can work on combinations. They're the future of this club, so they should be in the same team every week. I think Mullo is kinda wasted on the bench in first grade.

yeah i think they are just wanting a replacment for joey ASAP and don't really care about premier league and how they go!! No problem insaneink, someone needed to make you guys feel special. Not sure why wests havn't won for such a long time because they played very good on the weekend. I was a bit surprised when i looked at where they were on the tally board after the game because they played as a team. Very good.

Its a long long story, but its what happens when you have a claytons Joint venture PL team.

We have Balmain/Ryde - Eastwood, and we have Wests...Tim Sheens wants all the top grade contracted players that play PL occasionally playing together, and that happens to be for Balmain-R/E, even if theyre Wests players...it makes it hard....good for Wests Tigers 1st grade, and Balmain PL...thats about it.

The boys looked good v Norths last week, that said Norths did look ordinary. Single Newy Chick has nailed it though. Too much changing around with players every week, just trying to give everyone a run. Tighe must be really p!ssed off, he was our best centre ion firsts last year, this year he can't get a go there in premmy. The side last week was nowhere near the best we could field. Guys like Vaughan must be wondering what they have to do to get a perm go. Until we see the same guys consistantly every week we will continue to see below par performances.

thanks antonius, I do believe that its not the players fault though, its not their fault they are shifted to local league because David Fairleigh wants to put his regulars in. I do believe it should be on current form, not previous form (which i have been saying from day one). The boys get one crack to show the coach that they are worthy of a spot, and no matter if they play fantastic, they will put the regualr players back into the side after injury (even if they are so far out of form they should be playing for the Mudgee Koalas) If this was the case premier league would be winning much more games.

One easy solution. Put Mullen and Walsh in the halves and move Tighe to the centres. I guarantee we'd start winning games.

No doubt Jobdog.

However I will say keeping a "regular" PL team is bloody difficult because as soon as there is an injury in first grade, where does the replacement come from? I want Mullen and Walsh to play together as much as possible.

I personally dont want Mullen and Johns on the park at the same time... ever.
