Some problems for Wenty down their right again as Nabuli threatens to slice through but Ualesi and Toutai do enough to force an error!

Another big set for the Magpies as the pack the scrum on halfway with the feed in hand. The balls comes to Pewhairangi who finds Faraimo in support. Kassis brings the ball back to the middle before Hunt takes it down the right. Toutai is tackled to bring up the last and Kelly finds the repeat set with a lovely grubber kick. Good chase from Gorman as well!

Ualesi brings the ball back from the drop out. Mataele takes another good run afterwards. Kelly links up with Gorman down the left before Ma'afu is taken at the line in a good tackle. Wenty nearly force a shepherd there and on the next tackle a chance goes begging as Pewhairangi grasses a ball that may have given him the opportunity to put Faraimo into space.

50m from Penrith this set. Solid stuff and then they look to run it on the last! They look to have numbers initially but Wenty scramble fantastically and then David Simmons kick the ball out on the full.

Howard and Ualesi takes the early charges before Toutai comes in field for a run.Kelly runs the ball inside to Hunt and he cuts through! He slips over trying to step off he right foot but gee that was a nice run.

Can't agree with Kelly's choice there as he chips towards Nabuli who simply outleaps Butler-Fleming.

Great defensive set from the Magpies as they restrict the Panthers to a 35m gain. Hunt is content to let the booming kick roll dead and Wenty will come back a 7-tackle set on their 20m line.

Mataele and Ualesi at the fore again. As astute kick from Kelly pins the Panthers on their 10m line. That was an early kick but the kick chase was on point.

Penrith are getting hammered by the line speed of the Magpies and decide to punish them as Humble chips early in the set and from deep in his half to Simmons. Suggestions that Simmons stepped on the sideline but Wenty dodge the bullet via a desperate effort from Pewhairangi who intercepts the pill!

Wenty continue to punish the Panthers with some committed defence. Gutsy stuff.

Butler-Fleming eats up another kick on the full and Wenty begin the down field grind. Another good touch from Hunt who runs from dummy half and steals 15m. Kassis makes a superb run afterwards! Great drive.

A lovely run and offload from Alvaro gives Kassis a peak at the line but Kassis loses the ball as he looks for support! A try goes begging.

Powerful, driving tackle there as Wenty force the Panthers backwards again. Penrith are forced to resort to trick shots again as Humble looks for another attacking short kick. Signs of the mounting pressure.

Wenty pick up another penalty, their first in some time after that opening barrage of them. On the attack no but an unforced error from Sam Gorman quickly brings an end to the raid.

And that was all Penrith needs...

They burst through some brittle defence down our right edge and Kevin Naqaima (sp) races down the sideline after Capewell linked up with him.

Oh dear, Wenty have dominated this half but will have little to show for it on the scoreboard.

The conversion is successful.

Half Time

Penrith lock the game up at 12-all

Apart from the last minute lapse that was a terrific opening 40min from the Magpies. Penrith threatened early in the piece but some aggressive and committed defence knocked the minor premiers on their haunches. Apart from a couple of ordinary kicks, Kelly has dictated play nicely while Hunt has chimed in with some incisive runs.

Our no-frills forward pack has forged the way ahead with great opening stints from Alvaro, Maliota, Ualesi, Mataele and Howard laying that platform that we need to have if we are to win this game.

This is our game to win. Whether we can maintain the level of play and intensity we showed for the greater portion of the first half will determine our fate. Fingers crossed the break doesn't quell the flames!

f**ken bullshit. We should be up by two or three tries and instead we're tied up. That shows Penrith's superior quality. All their best lower graders are in this game whereas half of ours are still playing in the NYC finals.

Penrith just need to hold the ball (and keep holding us down in the tackle) and they'll run away with this.
