If that is our best 2nd 17 no wonder our first grade team is going shit...

5 players are set to drop back to this grade, plus we have 5 currently injured or suspended and we released Kenny Edwards. Of course your reserve grade team is going to look bad when you are missing 11 out of your top 30. Do you expect the reserve grade team to have 17 players with 50 games of NRL experience or something?

Well some folks around here want us to stop signing fringe players to replace fringe players so who knows what some people want tbh

I know he's an injury prone merkin, but with Will Smith named on the bench for first grade, surely Kaysa gets a game before King in the NRL team....

Given his history a week or two in Wenty might be a good idea tbh...

No I But I expect our 2nd team to have better players than..

1. Abbas Miski --- Wont make first Grade
2. Edward Aiono --- Wont make first Grade
3. Nathan Davis --- Wont make first Grade Again
4. Dane Aukafolau --- Wont make first Grade
5. Greg Leleisiuao-- 50/50 to play first grade
6. Arana Taumata-HAHAHAHA
7. Rhys Davies--- Wont make first Grade
8. Magnus Stromquist--- Wont make first Grade
9. Kaysa Pritchard--- Will be back in firsts soon
10. Oregon Kaufusi--- Should be in first grade one day
11. Matthew Woods--- Wont make first Grade
12. Piki Rogers--- Wont make first Grade
13. Daniel Dole--- Wont make first Grade
14. Salesi Fainga’a-- Should be in first grade one day
15. Haimona Hiroti--- Wont make first Grade
16. Yileen Gordon--- Wont make first Grade
17. Jack Morris--- Wont make first Grade

Kirisome Auva’a ---- Wont play first grade again but is a good NSW cup player
19. Kane Evans--- Dont think he will lay first grade again but is a good NSW cup player
20. Jaeman Salmon--- Wont make first Grade - Harsh truth will go to England
21. Suaia Matagi--- Wont play first grade again off to England
22. Josh Hoffman--- Handy backup

Pretty Piss poor Backup side... Playing in NSW cup should be getting younger guys ready for the step up to first grade and developing skills for guys who are fringe first graders unfortunately our side isn't...

I have a fair few on ignore so don't know which posters you're talking about, but I'm assuming the player is Lane who has played 23 consecutive games for manly and 14 consecutive games for the dogs in his debut season. I guess some like to run around being chicken little

Yes there would be better players in reserve grade if we were at full strength in first grade, I don't think you know how this works tbh.

Also big call on Salmon to never play first grade. 19 years old, coming off a neck injury, playing the rest of the year in ISP and doing a solid job.

I would be happy to sign good fringe first grade players... Lane is one of them..

Yeah I didn't mean you. I've just seen some crazy stuff floating around here recently and tbh I'm not surprised by anything anymore.

Anyway our reserves aren't the best for a few reasons, but I think we're overreacting a little. A lot of folks here idolise the Roosters, this is their lineup in NSW Cup this weekend.

1. Luke Sharpe 2. Reece Robinson 4. Billy Smith 3. Paul Momirovski 5. Josh Mantellato 6.Dean Matterson 7. Sean O'sullivan 15. Lindsay Collins 9. Mitch Williams 10. Frank Paul Nuuausala 11. Brock Gray 12. Josh Curran 13. Poasa Faamausili 8. Eloni Vunakece 14.Christopher Smith 16. Brendan Frei 20. Sitili Tupouniua

Hardly anything to get excited about either tbh. I actually reckon we've got more potential first graders in Salmon, Daukafolau, Greg Louganis, Oregon Kaufusi and Salesi Faingaa. They've got established more fringe players but none you'd worry about too much.

https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2018/06/26/injury-report---round-16/

Manu Ma'u - Cheekbone – TBC, awaiting scans
Reed Mahoney – Suspension – Round 18
Tepai Moeroa – Suspension – Round 18
Tony Williams - ACL – Season
Beau Scott – ACL - Season

So Tepa& Ma'u

Would push Smith & Niukore to Wenty... Mahoney would be in Wenty at 14..

Eels fan love t talk up the next big thing Salmon wont make it unfortunately..

Yeah, there's your 5 that are injured, all of them bar Beau Scott and Reed Mahoney would be playing first grade who would be playing ISP instantly making the ISP team better.

I don't think anyone (except for Buzz Rothfield in one article, who is not an Eels supporter) has said that Salmon will be the next big thing.

I would be glad to say I am wrong on Salmon 100%!

I doubt Schneider would go straight from SG Ball to ISP with no Flegg experience, coming off a shoulder surgery he'll likely spend a year or so in the 20's.

Also I can't see us re-signing Davis so that spot would be taken by one of Dunster, Fonua or Parry. I also wouldn't discredit Afualo for a starting centre spot, he did train a bit with first grade at the start of the pre-season. I also believe that Dylan Brown would take up one of the halves' spots in ISP next year, if not for the rest of this year.

Personally I think we'll see a lot of young players in our ISP team next year, or I at least hope we will. As it stands I have 12 players that would be 22 or younger in a predicted 17 for next year, but that's just my thoughts on the players and assuming that they aren't in first grade.

I agree huge call on Salmon as only 19yo
Although i think will get some time eventually i cant see long term where you fit him in.
Only my opinion but he is not a 5/8. Never played center and i think will be to small for back eow.
Will be interesting to see how he develops in the future.
But needs time in a certain position to see how he goes. Prob make a good utility

Great young team. For mine no offence to anyone, Young Dylan Brown will be the 1st one from the group to play Isp or 1st grade. So id have him in here also ahead of Salmon. Dylan has a half / 5/8 is completely head and shoulders above Salmon.

In the next 1-2 years players like
Haze Dunster - Wing / Center
Ethan Parry - Wing / Center
Kyle Schneider - Hooker
Stefano Utoikamanu - Prop
Dylan Brown - Half - 5/8 - Fullback
Salesi Fainga's - Edge
Oregon Kaufusi - Middle

Alot will depend on how they go in Nsw Isp. But if all goes well, I would be expecting the above players to push for NRL.

Apart from Dylan Brown missing i love the team above
