We beat Penrith, Sowie111.
Power rankings aren’t just about one or two games though. Neither are they just a reflection of the competition ladder. They are generally about recent form, which should be assessed over a number of games (but that number should be higher than two).

This early in the season they need to take pre-season expectations into account because there just aren’t enough games to judge so far. Probably a fair argument that power rankings are worthless so early in the year.

So what.......
It was in the wet and they played woefull. One game doesn't make a team great or poor.

I didn't say it did. I actually think power rankings are a waste of time.

I said that we beat them. Therefore, this early in the season, there is no logical way we can be below them with an extra win, having beaten them

Especially when Soward said we need to beat good sides to be higher than 10th, and then put one of the sides we beat higher than us. Do you see how that's geniused, or have you got the Panthers fan glasses on today?

Yeah look he's an idiot.

I don't buy into power rankings, really....but I saw his earlier today on the NRL site. He's got the current top two sides in 9th and 10th. Newcastle, North QLD, Penrith, and Cronulla are above Wests and Parra. The Raiders are one spot below Parra.

It's just an absolute mess with no real logic behind it. I mean I can understand having Melbourne first, and Souths high. Both have beaten better sides than we have. But he says Wests and Parra "need to be beating better sides" to be above Newcastle and North QLD....but then has the Roosters third after "a fantastic win against Manly" who most think will be competing for the spoon...

He also had us below Penrith last week. Um, we beat them mate?

The man is an idiot, plain and simple.

He said that he takes who the team is playing the next week into account. First off, what does that even mean? Secondly, that's not how power rankings work, they're supposed to be based on how an individual team is tracking. They're pretty useless overall but at their most irrelevant in the first month or two of a new season.
