well that's what happens when we play a kid a year earlier than we should of.

I'm not even sure if he did a full NRL pre season, maybe he did who knows? but at the end of the day he still wasn't physically ready for the week to week grind despite putting Turbo on his arse in his debut game.

Blaize couldn't really find a position in the seniors with us, and got shifted around in Cup without ever looking like he had what it took to develop into a specific position to NRL level.

I don't think we're really missing Talagi in any way this season. And think we dodged another bullet instead of being stuck with an overhyped prospect whose manager/family seem the mercenary type in their dealings.

Yep, if we were that keen on Talagi we should have originally signed him for a straight three years take it or leave it, instead of two years plus a PO/test the market and escape clause.

But can't keep them all.

The player was off contract when his manager advised would be best for his earning potential. If we wanted him off contract in a year that suited us best, we would’ve had to pay for it. I knew in 2023 that he was one of our best prospects in that SG Ball side. Anyone paid to give a shit about that sort of thing would’ve known it years earlier.

“Hey Blaize, here’s a lowball three year offer, take it or leave it. Don’t talk to your manager, you need to make a decision right now ffs!”

Meh... just stirring you.

Glad our CEO has publicly stated that POs are a thing of the past anyway. So essentially now it will be take it or leave it offers made to promising young juniors... if they want to buy in and play for us, so be it. If not, then there's little we can do.

The CEO didn’t say anything about player options.
Really? Did you miss the fan forum in February?

There is no full verbatim record that can be sourced, but are you trying to argue the CEO wasn't part of a panel of four who discussed player options and pledged to end them?

Parramatta officials have come under fire as a result of the contract ordeals but in an Eels members forum a pledge was made.

Chief executive officer, Jim Sarantinos, explained ... his club are "working through with their managers" with the hope of having them "resolved as quickly as possible".

How can you resolve something that’s already in a contract? Sarantinos was talking about contract extensions, which are a new contract. It was the fact of being off contract that we wanted to resolve, and the resolution is to offer a contract extension.

He left for less money mate. Blaize come out and basicaly said after talking to Ivan there was no way he could turn down the chance.

What was 'the chance' he couldn't turn down I wonder.
Was it the chance to play 6, which we couldn't offer him because of Brown, or was it the chance to play next to Nathan, or the chance to join the 4 time premiers?

I dont think Blaize was confident enough in the direction we were heading.

The fact he got shuffled around a lot last year in different positions didn't help our cause.

By the time Ryles jump on board it was probably too late to convince him to stay.

I think the fact Ryles was so quick to move & identify Iongi within a week or two as a replacement was a shrewd move from the coach.

And giving a player a PO in there favour when they hadn't even played a FG game is actually not even the dumbest contract we have handed out in the past 3 or 4 years which is saying something.

Considering the stupidity of it.

Yet we still have the muppet who signed off on it still in charge as our HOF.

How anyone has any faith in those same people moving forward have too much faith in incompetence.

Firstly Stop making excuses. Let's own our mistakes. Then we can try and solve them and improve. By making excuses constantly you dont solve issues

Dude, I was trying to understand the chance he took so we can work out how we can offer the same or similar chances to our future stars and not lose them to Penrith and others.
